"It seems WWE diva Eve Torres is a woman of many talents. A talented wrestler, a gymnast, a skilled dancer, a Mixed Martial Artist (she holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from the famous Gracie Academy) and...a car thief?
Well, that is what the WWE creative team would have us believe. In a wacky story that was just put up on the company's official website.
A WWE.com scribe explains how the story started out as a typical "Day in the Life" feature and unexpectedly turned into Grand Theft Auto after current Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and her sidekick Natalya stopped at a gas station for some drinks.
As the short, hilarious video that accompanies the road rip shows, when the "Divas of Doom" come out of the store they find that their rental car is gone. They look around, puzzled, for a few moments, before the driver (later explained to be Eve) pulls up in their car, cheekily honks the horn at them and then drives away—gone in less than 60 seconds.
The article explains that Eve—who is the No. 1 contender to the Phoenix's Championship after winning the costume battle royale on last night's Raw—tailed the two divas to the gas station. Then with the aid of fellow babyface diva Alicia Fox (who knew, from driving with Beth in the past, that she almost always leaves her keys when going into a store) was able to run in and steal the vehicle
When asked by the writer of the article to explain her actions, Eve is extremely unapologetic about the fact that she has patently broken the law:
"It was hilarious, the looks on their faces! I’m glad your camera was rolling, because their reaction was priceless,” Eve said by phone. “Still, I’m sorry you got caught up in all this, too. Collateral damage?"
Thankfully, Eve will not be spending any time in the slammer due to a technicality in WWE's contract regarding rental cars:
We called WWE’s Talent Relations department, who sent a car to pick us up. Beth and Natalya both suggested that the police be contacted, but we were informed that under John Laurinaitis, all rental cars for talent are booked with multiple Superstars/Divas listed as drivers, since at any given moment a new driver might be needed to get from city to city.
It is interesting that WWE are choosing to go in this direction with the diva's storyline. It is also interesting that WWE would have a babyface character steal someone's car (as well as several valuable belongings, including Natalya's expensive scarf, which she can be heard yelling about right after Eve drives off).
What's next? John Cena mugging people on the street for the cash in their wallet?"
