That famous laugh is back – Woody Woodpecker is reportedly the next cartoon character to get a big-screen revamp!
THR
says Illumination Entertainment is working on a script, that’ll be
penned by John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, who wrote “Blades of Glory”,
starring Will Ferrell.
It’ll be Woody’s first movie appearance
in close to 40 years, after hitting the big time in the 1940s. He’s been
in well over 100 theatrical cartoon shorts, so he’s got some cred!
As
does the studio reinventing him – Illumination is the animation branch
of Universal, and their highlights include “Despicable Me”, “Hop” -which
I loved but everyone else hated, and the upcoming “Dr. Seuss’ The
Lorax”.
