Update: Randy Orton Injury Update; How Long He Will Be Out

Randy Orton was injured at last night's SmackDown tapings in Indianapolis during the Falls Count Anywhere main event against Wade Barrett. Orton has been removed from this week's live events.

Word backstage was that Orton suffered some sort of back injury according to PWInsider.com.

We are learning that the injury has to do with at least one of the discs in his back. Orton could miss up to 6 months of in-ring time, causing him to miss WrestleMania 28.

We will bring you more information with more details on injury and recovery time as the week goes on.

I just read this elsewhere. I see this injury as a great opportunity for someone else.

Tough break for Orton, though.

It was announced at the Smackdown house show tonight that Randy will indeed be out for 6 months. I'm upset I was looking forward to seeing him at the rumble and Mania. I'm possibly going to Raw next week too

Considering there were talks of him winning the rumble this is a relief. I don't wish injury upon people (unless its David Otunga), but it'll be good for him to be away for a while. Plus it gives him the chance to reinvent his character and be relevant again, such as coming back as a heel.

Wade can get a main event rub as being the one who took the viper down leading to a big push. SD doesn't need star power, they have Wade, Sheamus, Henry, Show & Daniel Bryan.

Either come back as a heel or return with a hybrid gimmick of Viper and Legend Killer; sort of like Cody Rhodes' current hybrid gimmick of dashing & disfigured.

I think that could work well for him.

Randy just isn't a good face. He was a good face back in 04 because Triple H was a top great heel so he could be the underdog. Having Wade and Christian as heels just isn't doing any further justice because Randy needs a great heel to carry him as a face.

Orton needs to be carried in general
