Reported plans for Layla's return

Former WWE Women’s Champion Layla, who is due to return from a torn ACL and MCL injury in early 2012, is reportedly in line for a Divas Championship feud upon her return.

The latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Layla is due to feud with Beth Phoenix over the belt when she returns to action.

The report also notes that Natalya, Beth’s current BFF, may be in line for a title feud with Beth too at some point next year.

Layla has been on the shelf since May after announcing her injuries. The injuries stemmed from her hard-fought “Loser Leaves WWE” match with Michelle McCool at Extreme Rules, the latter’s retirement match. Layla had surgery and has been rehabbing for the past several

TBH this is not a huge surprise to anyone, of course when she returns she was gonna get a diva's title opportunity. I mean if anything she was prolly set to become diva's champ possibly off Brie, if it wasn't for her injury, since she was due for a big push after Michelle McCool .

Since there are also reports of Nattie getting a fued in to, my guess is that depending on when Layla actually does return will depend on who gets the fued first. They could either have Layla feud with Beth as a face and lose, then have Nattie turn face and win....or have Nattie turn face on Beth and have her lose against Beth and have Layla return and win against Beth.

Personally I just pray Layla does turn face, since as a heel she has done it now, and we need to see how she can cope as a face.

very long!!! It's a shame since she was one of only few divas to not get injured. I mean we've had Melina, Maryse, Beth, Michelle all get injured and have to take time off (cept Michelle)

I agree with reign with the beth being some amazing wrestler when in reality she's not all that intresting and I find her over rated at times.Natayla is much better than beth.

i dont get it, all the good women are overrated but all the bad ones are praised?

I agree with you. I am one who absoloutly hates when people come back and get runs immediately. I mean Melina, Gail, Mickie, Winter all came back and pretty much straight away got the title.

As for the Beth/Nattie thing. I personally think Beth is more all round interesting then Nattie, they are both great wrestlers, but I just find Nattie to be more overrated.

And as for good wrestlers getting bashed compared to the lesser counterparts....tbh it is all well and good being a good/great techincian...but if anything something we have learnt from some of the models like Layla, Maryse, Alicia, Bellas...they may be inferior techincally, but they have better personalities and are more entertaining to actually watch...imo

So has Beth's first reign. All reigns since LayCool had the belt have been boring. As well as quite a few reigns before that, because they never build anything up.

They tried with Beth/Nattie but it is all pointless now, because they aren't backing them up, by allowing them to get pinned by people quickly shows they aren't as great as their characters say they are. It also doesn't help that they are making them into LayCool characters by making juvenile remarks about the divas.

I don't know when "early 2012!" means, whether it be January/February....but with them building up Alicia, they really outta let her get her chance before Layla....which is why I was baffeled as to why Kelly got a shot at TLC over Alicia

i would like to see Layla return while Alicia is feuding with Beth and sort of ally herself with that group. when that feud is over then you could have the Beth/Natalya feud with Natalya taking the title at WrestleMania. then have Layla feud with Nattie. or else let Layla have the WrestleMania match and keep Beth and Natalya together until SummerSlam

Well deadyou know im a layla mark i supposrt her no matter what but i dont support kelly kelly or eve oe the bellas. so you cant really say that. I like nattie, but most beth fans act like she is the best thing to step into the ring.

Commenting on how manly Beth is is completely irrelevant to her abilities. When you compare her and Nattie to the rest of the divisio. There is a huge gap in talent. As for Layla returning, she's never been one of my favourites but it will be good to have her back and she'll add some interest to a very stagnant face side. My main focus is towards Beth/Nattie though. Give it the build up it deserves! I'd love to see Beth bring Kharma back to see off Nattie then for Kharma to turn on both and go tweener
