Knockouts Score Big Ratings on Impact Wrestling, Blow Away Rest of the Show

The TNA Knockouts continued to prove their dominance over the Impact Wrestling ratings this past Thursday night, but this time the Knockouts completely blew the rest of the competition out of the water.

A 10-Knockout battle royal was easily the highest rated segment on the entire two-hour broadcast — by a wide margin, reports PWTorch.

The match which aired in Quarter 5 of the show (10-10.15pm) scored a 1.23 cable rating, increasing an impressive 18.3% over the previous segment in Quarter 4. That is more than double the average growth from Quarter 4 to Quarter 5 in 2011, which was 9.5%.

In fact, the Knockouts action stopped this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling from becoming the lowest rated episode of 2012 thus far. Without the big number for the segment, the show’s average rating would’ve fallen below the 1.06 rating for last week’s episode of Impact which currently ranks as the least watched Impact of 2012 so far.

The Knockouts’ match maintained an easy lead over the second highest rated segment of the show — the closing quarter hour — which did a 1.11 even though it featured Super Bowl champion Brandon Jacobs.

Thursday’s Impact did a 1.02 rating in hour one and a 1.11 in hour two for an average of 1.06.

Pretty much the entire Knockouts roster was part of the segment. Participants in the battle royal included Angelina Love, Brooke Tessmacher, Madison Rayne, Mickie James, ODB, Rosita, Sarita, Tara, Velvet Sky and Winter. Knockouts Champion Gail Kim also appeared.

DD's Thoughts: With ratings like this, TNA and Dixie Carter certainly ought to take more notice of their Knockouts and give them more opportunities. As we discussed on Diva Dirt Live last week, the company should think about taking a cue from MMA and put the women in a pay per view main event. After all, if their PPV buys are as low as they are rumored to be, what have they got to lose? If the women are the breadwinners, it’s time they started being treated like it.

Not surprised at all considering the KOs have been, on average, the highest rated segment of the show for quite a while now.
