Shelton Benjamin is Ready to Main Event

Did you guys happen to catch Shelton Benjamin vs. MVP on SmackDown! tonight? Benjamin was phenomenal. His mic skills weren't perfect, but he delivered very well, and got major heat off the VPM line (Very Peyton Manning). Then he put on an incredible bout with MVP, one of the better matches I've seen on SmackDown! lately. I've got a feeling that we'll see him drop the US belt to MVP, and move on to the main event, or MitB. Thoughts?

I won't disagree with you on the part that was a phenomenal matchup between, MVP and Shelton. But listen here, Shelton, is not ready to main event. To main event you need mic skills which, Shelton, simply does not have. Then you're probably going to say, but what about Jeff Hardy? And I'm going to respond... Jeff Hardy has alot of popularity, WAY more then, Shelton. Shelton doesn't get much of a reaction, and he won't ever get much of a push. The most he is ever going to get is a decent feud over the U.S championship. And M.I.T.B, is way out of whack. He has not nearly enough momentum to win that. Even if he gets on a winning until Mania. Shelton, is a talented performer he is just never going to get a chance to shine. Face it.

How can you say that? Shelton's been in the company for like 6 or 7 years now, and is still being touted as the best pure athlete in the WWE. And have you not seen the massive push he's received after his stint in ECW? He's held the United States Championship for a solid 8 months now, so if WWE seriously intended to not push him, they wouldn't have wasted so much time.

He's gotten on the mic almost every week now, and his mic skills aren't great, true, but he's getting better. He's entered a program with Undertaker, faced off against HHH and Jeff Hardy. WWE obviously realizes the potential he has, and you will eat your words GFX!

he won the US Title because Matt Hardy got drafted to ECW and he got drafted to Smackdown. the ppl backstage have said Sheltons work in the ring is slow and that Shelton doesnt work as hard in the ring. so how is winning the US Title a push? they gave Carlito a Tag Title because he wanted to leave....thats not a push...its making them happy

They could've given the US Title to anyone on the roster. Obviously Michael Hayes saw potential in Benjamin and wanted him on SmackDown!. And can you seriously say he isn't getting pushed on SmackDown! knowing the time he spent on RAW in 2007? Benjamin's been on television every week, and is getting the mic every week to improve. If WWE really felt that he wasn't worth pushing, they wouldn't have wasted the time on him.

heres a hint....maybe its cause hes black and Hayes didnt want everyone to think he was still racist? he hasnt defended the title since he beat Hurricane Helms a month ago....hes not being pushed...lol

i agree with serial and gfx...i hate to say it as he is a great athlete....but he isnt that over...his mic skills arent that great...and i still dont see him being a world champ for another 2-3 years if that...and tbqh any superstar with the USTITLE cant be considered as having a push...out of ALL the titles that one since its conception in 2003 has been the most boring and least used..all the champs have been stale..from benoit, to jbl and now to shelton...non have had any decent feuds for them...maybe booker/bemoit could be one exception....every other title has had some form of unstaleness...the world titles generaly are never stale...the womens division of 01-06 has been awsome, the tag teams have had some good ones even if it is more stale now...same with the IC....so US TITLE isnt a push its just a way of havin a secondary title for SD

Secondary titles represent the top mid-carder of his respective brand. Since Shelton Benjamin has been the US Champion, he's been guaranteed TV time every week as the top mid-carder of SmackDown!. He's had great matches with other mid-carders such as Jeff Hardy, Finlay, and MVP, and a few main-eventers like Undertaker and HHH too. How can ya say the dude isn't getting pushed?

Again, look back at Shelton Benjamin in 2007. He was stuck in the World's Greatest Tag Team with Charlie Haas, going absolutely nowhere, then he just didn't appear on TV, with the exception of jobbing to JEff Hardy, then he got moved to ECW where WWE recognized his potential, and now he's on SmackDown! You guys really can't see where he's been pushed?

And Dead, that's ridiculous. Mark Henry got the ECW Title because of that. xD
