Hardest NES Game You've Ever Played?

As the title says, what are some of the hardest games youve ever played,
on the original Nintendo? I know we're all used to a 360, PS3 or Wii
controller by now, but back in the day we had controllers that had 2
buttons and a D-Pad. List some of the games that are in your mind,
difficult.

2 of the most difficult games ive played...are Mario
Bros: The Lost Levels and the first TMNT game. My god, that game kicked
my ass on so many levels when i was a child. Hell, it kicks my ass to
this day. I cant even get past the first level without losing up to 3
turtles, its defintely a game that will make anyone rage.

defintely TMNT, that game was stupid hard. The only way i seen the end was on Angry Videogame Nerd.

I only played a few games on the NES, I'd have to go with Super Mario Bros. I could never make it past like the 3rd or 4th level, as a kid.

Super Mario Bros. I used to be able to get a lot of lifes, jsut not progress anywhere. I think at one point I'd managed to get 8 or 9 lives and I hadn't even been to the first castle. Only ever got as far as the fourth or fifth world. No further than that.

Duck Hunt was a piss easy game though. Its a lot easier than some of the modern games, which can be rediculously easy sometimes.

I never played Silver Surfer but from videos I've seen, that game looks ridiculously hard.

A game I did play that was extremely difficult, was Battletoads. Twelve stages, and I was lucky if I made it past the 3rd.

Another crazy game is Ghosts N' Goblins. You think you reach the final stage, but then you find out you are only halfway done.

Damn that TMNT water level. Gotta mention Mike Tyson's Punchout.
