| WWE officials had been negotiating with Chris Jericho on a new contract in recent weeks, but talks fell through. WWE opted to cease talks with the wrestler/musician in recent days. It is believed that the proposed deal fell through due to control over when he worked as well as his activities outside of WWE. Officials were seeking a deal where the company would be his top priority and they would have some control over his outside endeavors. Jericho, on the other hand, wanted complete control of all of his activities. Jericho was open to returning as early as this month had WWE agreed to his terms. He was looking to work forty to fifty dates per year, including full-time for cycles and even assisting the developmental program. However, he would determine the periods when he worked and would be strictly unavailable during tours, which WWE was not in favor of. | |

| They act like they can't trust him.
He's going to come in, give 120% and make the show better.
He's not just going to disappear without notice. He's going to tell them hey, I'm going on tour here, here and here.
Well, TNA.
You get another star. | |

| Jericho is offering to commute between wherever the WWE show is at and Florida on a regular basis to be a trainer. That's something I feel WWE should really think about. If Jericho wanted to become a trainer he probably has a permanantly open spot available on the staff of Lance Storm's school. Jericho is volunteering to be a trainer, I'd say WWE can't afford to miss that up. Especially as Jericho is probably the best since Shawn Michaels and working a crowd.
Compare this situation to Brock Lesnar. The fans weren't to bothered if he came back or not, and whilst he is a draw, he is never on tv unless theres a big PPV. Jericho on the other hand, fans are always waiting for his return, and he is nearly always on tv, regardless of whats going on in the world. He's given over 10 years of his life to WWE and is one of the hardest workers they've ever had, he deserves to get the chance to have more control over his contracts.
And I can't help but think its worth noting, that in the contracts WWE makes for their talent, they are decribed and independant contracters and not employees. Employees can be controlled, independant contracters not so much. | |
