Rapper/WrestleMania celebrity Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) revealed behind-the-scenes details on his role at WrestleMania 28 in a recent interview with CAVE Magazine . The following are highlights of the interview promoting the release of a new album, "Lace Up," on October 9.
- MGK says he almost did not come out on-stage to perform live before the Cena vs. Rock main event. "I realized I had to go out there, but I didn’t want to. It was the scariest moment of my career," the rapper said. "That was the only time I’ve ever looked out onstage before going out and said to myself, 'I’m totally okay if I just quit right now, so I don’t have to go out there and do this.'"
- MGK revealed that his group's microphones were not working just before they went out on-stage, but it ended up working out.
- MGK described John Cena as "very cool and very upfront." He also revealed that Cena gave his group "some moonshine" before they performed live at Mania. Asked if Cena drank with them, MGK said, "No, he gave us the moonshine and left."
- MGK said he knew he was supposed to hate The Rock as part of the Cena vs. Rock feud, but he thought Rock was "the coolest guy" and a fan of his music.
- Asked how MGK became involved with WWE to provide the official WM28 theme song, MGK says he found out on Twitter. "I woke up and saw a tweet. My label didn’t even tell me. I saw that 'Invincible' was the theme song for WrestleMania, and I thought it was cool. But, to be honest, we didn’t understand how big it was until we got to Miami. When we walked into the stadium, it was like 'holy s---, this is massive.'" | |
