http://www.goldderby.com/television/news/3477/sag-awards-modern-family-big-bang-theory-game-of-thrones-mad-men-homeland-breaking-bad-tv-news-83196427.html
After three consecutive Emmy Awards and two straight prizes from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, "Modern Family" should once again be the frontrunner to win as Best TV Comedy Ensemble from SAG. Two of last year's other nominees - "The Big Bang Theory" and "30 Rock" - will probably be back, but chances have fallen for the other nominees - "Glee" and "The Office."
Recent Emmy nominees that might break through are "Girls" and "Veep," along with possible contenders "Community," "Episodes," "Go On," "Happy Endings," "House of Lies," "The Mindy Project," "New Girl," "The New Normal," and "Parks and Recreation."
Alec Baldwin has never lost at SAG for his role as Jack Donaghy on "30 Rock." He has won six consecutive trophies and will most likely contend one last time this January as Best TV Comedy Actor. Last year's nominees Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") and Jon Cryer ("Two and a Half Men") could return, but Steve Carell ("The Office") is no longer eligible.
Other lead and supporting actors with the best chances to be nodded are Don Cheadle ("House of Lies"), Louis C.K. ("Louie"), Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ed O'Neill ("Modern Family"), Max Greenfield ("New Girl"), Matt LeBlanc ("Episodes"), Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory"), and Matthew Perry ("Go On").
Even though she has had no success at the Emmy Awards for her role on "Hot in Cleveland," Betty White is the reigning two-time champ as Best TV Comedy Actress at SAG. Recent Emmy winner and five-time SAG queen Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Veep") is eligible for the first time and will be stiff competition.
All of last year's other nominees -- Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family"), Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), and Tina Fey ("30 Rock") -- are also still eligible. Rookie contenders Zooey Deschanel ("New Girl"), Lena Dunham ("Girls"), and Mindy Kaling ("The Mindy Project") could also be threats, as would be the never-nominated Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation").
The nominees last year for Best TV Drama Ensemble at the Screen Actors Guild Awards were "Breaking Bad," "Dexter," "Game of Thrones," "The Good Wife," and eventual winner "Boardwalk Empire." While all are eligible to return this time, some may have to be snubbed to make room for the return of "Mad Men," the category change of "Downton Abbey," recent Emmy champ "Homeland," and/or newcomer "The Newsroom."
Steve Buscemi ("Boardwalk Empire") has surprised two years running as Best TV Drama Actor at SAG. He could contend against last year's nominees Patrick J. Adams ("Suits"), Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), and Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), but Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights") is no longer eligible.
Others in the mix include Hugh Bonneville ("Downton Abbey"), Jeff Daniels ("The Newsroom"), Peter Dinklage ("Game of Thrones"), Kelsey Grammer ("Boss"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), and recent Emmy champs Damian Lewis ("Homeland") and Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad").
Last year, Jessica Lange ("American Horror Story") prevailed as Best TV Drama Actress. Because she is moving into the movie/miniseries category this time, the field is wide open for a new champ.
Other nominees last time included eight-time SAG winner Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife"), Kathy Bates ("Harry's Law"), Glenn Close ("Damages"), and Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer"). All are eligible again, as are recent Emmy winners Claire Danes ("Homeland") and Maggie Smith ("Downton Abbey").
Could there be a "Hatfields and McCoys" battle in the SAG category of Best TV Movie/Miniseries Actor? Co-stars Kevin Costner and Tom Berenger both won Emmys and could be facing off against each other as well as Bill Paxton and Powers Boothe this time. Other recent nominees like Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman ("Sherlock"), Woody Harrelson and Ed Harris ("Game Change"), Clive Owen and David Strathairn ("Hemingway and Gellhorn") might be in the race as well.
Julianne Moore has reaped nine SAG nominations but never won before. After her recent Emmy victory for "Game Change," will her 10th bid be the one to put her on stage? Her most likely competition for Best TV Movie/Miniseries Actress could be Nicole Kidman ("Hemingway and Gellhorn"), Jessica Lange ("American Horror Story: Asylum"), Queen Latifah ("Steel Magnolias"), Sienna Miller ("The Girl"), and Sigourney Weaver ("Political Animals").

Do you think they can finally win a SAG next year?

| Yeah Bryan has to win a SAG eventually haters need to vote for him!
I don't really mind Parsons not winning but you would think the multiple Emmy wins would help each man out a lot.. | |
