Subject: More Bad News For Linda McMahon's Senate Campaign... Sun 04 Nov 2012, 4:15 am
- Linda McMahon received some more bad news last night from a new Public Policy Polling (PPP) poll, which showed her trailing Democrat Chris Murphy in the U.S. Senate race in Connecticut by 9 points, 52%-43%. According to the poll, only 37% of voters have a favorable opinion of her, while 52% have an unfavorable one.
McMahon's camp issued this statement about the poll, calling it a "desperate stunt" that was meant to "discourage Linda McMahon's supporters." While PPP often tends to lean Democrat, a poll from Rasmussen Reports (which usually tends to lean Republican) earlier this week showed McMahon trailing Murphy by six points, 51%-45%. The fact that Murphy has topped the 50% mark in both polls has to be troubling for her campaign with just days to go until Election Day.
- As noted yesterday, President Obama (who is leading Mitt Romney by double digits in several polls in Connecticut) is appearing in a new television ad for Murphy. You can watch the ad below:
- It is interesting that the President is appearing in the ad for Murphy, given Murphy's lead in recent polls. It is the only ad that the President has done for a Senate candidate during this election cycle. You have to wonder if it's because of McMahon's recent ad where she encouraged Obama supporters to split their ticket and vote for her and the President. You can watch that ad below:

Well, she lost. Hopefully, this will convince her to give up politics.

Rep. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) defeated Linda McMahon in Connecticut's election for U.S. Senate, projects the Associated Press.
Murphy was narrowly favored to win in the preceding days against McMahon, the former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO. She spent $42.6 million on the race, according to her recent campaign finance report.
President Barack Obama made a direct appeal for Murphy in a television ad released Friday. McMahon, buoyed by her lavish self-funding, flooded the state in television ads.
McMahon's own campaign material had urged voters to vote for her and Obama, despite the fact that she endorsed Mitt Romney for president and donated $150,000 to his campaign.
Murphy will replace retiring Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), who was first elected as a Democrat before leaving the party in 2006. However, Lieberman had continued to caucus with the party.
Murphy was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2006 and served in the Connecticut legislature beforehand.
