grr i came in here with plans of saying they have killed the franchise by continually adding these new pokemon but graphically this game looks amazing im impressed.

They sure are not giving me much time to enjoy White 2 though!

I mean I am just now starting on my first White 2 game [completed Black 2 a while ago] but now I know I have around 10 months to get my 10 teams already planned done. There is no way that is happening..

I haven't played a Pokemon game in YEARS I'm still in Mewtwo,Mew Erra.

Wow that was the first generation the current one is the 5th and this is the upcoming sixth!

I loved the first generation!!! The original,The Best!!! I miss Jigglypuff,MewTwo,Charmander,etc the good old days!! The only Pokemon I could not stand was Pikachu I was Never a fan of that thing.

Yeah the first generation will always be the best but I like a lot of newer pokemon at least.

And lol I think a lot of people also hate Pikachu; myself included!

One thing I hated about Pikachu was he was completey undefeateable.Everytime he did lose he would either train more and then come back and beat them like the first round ment nothing I was always rooting for the person who was always facing Pikachu because I wanted to see Pikachu get his ASS Whooped!!!

February’s CoroCoro cover has just leaked, revealing a brand new Eeveelution named Ninfia (ニンフィア). Its type and method of evolution were not revealed, but it is 1.0m high and weighs 23.5kg. Its name follows the same naming conventions of Glacia and Leafia (Glaceon and Leafeon’s Japanese names). Ninfia was foreshadowed for several months via the Pikachu and Eevee Friends mini-movie poster: you can see its pink bow in the middle of the logo. Since Eevee is getting a new evolution this generation, other older Pokemon may get new evolutions again too.

The Genesect movie has been renamed Extremespeed Genesect and Mewtwo’s Awakening (the “wow factor”). Team Rocket’s creation vs. Team Plasma’s? Holy cow! Could the city Mewtwo retreated to at the end of Mewtwo Returns be the same city Genesect and its crew are terrorizing in the film?

I agree it looks to be a Normal type however if not Normal I see it being a Flying type.

The rare responses fans seem to predict include Bug, Dragon, and Fighting for some reason..

I just hope it has a friend so we can get two more Eeveeolutions!

I like Sylveon better as well.

I'm pretty sure it is pronounced: 'Silv-eon' so it's almost like my last name. :p

the english name makes me think it's either gonna be steel, fighting, or normal

I still think the top type prediction is Flying then Normal.

Other than those two types the only other type I think it could be would be a new type [Light, Fairy, etc]..

A feature in Japanese magazine CoroCoro has revealed a bunch of new details on Pokemon X and Y - including the name of the games' location and a new Pokemon that you can actually ride.

As we speculated when the first trailer was released in the above Rewind Theatre, it is indeed set in an alternative version of France. The scans - courtesy of Serebii - reveal that the name of the new region is called Karos, and Miare City is its version of Paris.

It confirms that you'll be able to customise your trainer slightly in details like hair and skin colour after selecting one of a few templates. One screenshot also shows a trainer actually riding a Pokemon - Gogoat, a grass type who looks like a curvy-horned ram with a leafy feather boa draped around his shoulders.

Three other new Pokemon are also shown: teensy little bird Pokemon Yayakoma, Erikiteru the floppy-eared lizard thing (electric/normal type), and Yancham the stompy little panda-dude (fighting-type Naughty Pokemon). They're super cute. Check out the scans.

Pokemon X and Y will be out before the end of the year and we're likely to see much more of it at E3.

Update (10:30 PM) – We just noticed this, but the filename for Mewtwo’s new forme on the official Pokemon movie website is http://www.pokemon-movie.jp/img/pokemon/long/info/infoM2x.png. M2X = Mewtwo X, so maybe there’s a Mewtwo Y? Regular Mewtwo’s filename is infoM2.png, so the “x” was obviously added on purpose for the form’s filename. | Update (6:45 PM) – Oops, I forgot a little piece about the Fairy-type which has been added below.

Back in February we were contacted by an individual who claimed to have X and Y insider information. Of course, our standard policy is to immediately doubt anyone like this and ignore them. However, the person was able to present several facts about their first-party source that we were able to verify and, without going into too many details, no normal individual would have ever even known about the existence of said original source were they not initiated (although there was some scant information about it on the Internet that proved the source existed). While mostly convinced that this person was the real deal, we decided to not post any of their information until we could know for sure whether or not one piece of their information was real.

Then in late April, Hiro, the guy who leaked several Black and White Pokemon before they were revealed, revealed that there would be a new type in X and Y called Fairy. That’s funny, I thought. The source who contacted us back in February had also mentioned a new Fairy type. I resisted every urge to post the news that the February source had e-mailed us because, for all I knew, it was the same source giving information to Hiro and could still be fake. Plus, there was still nothing about their news that had been officially confirmed yet. While I tried to contact Hiro to ask him about his source, he never got back to me, and thus I was unable to figure out if his source was the same as mine or different altogether. Although the source did claim that they had only approached me, I still wanted to be cautious. Thus, I decided again to not post any of the info.

Then this morning, CoroCoro finally gave us the first major X and Y details since the games were first announced. Among those details was one tiny little tidbit that the source had first told me about in February – that there would be a new Electric move that drains its opponent’s HP. This was the only attack that the person had told me about in February, and yet it is such a specific detail to make up. For that information to be verified three months later seems to indicate that the source is the real deal (unless they are just really good at guessing).

I want to emphasize that under the worst case scenario, I am still somehow, some way, being duped. It would not be the first time to tell you the truth, and all Pokemon webmasters have fallen for fake news before. Thus, I want everyone to take this news with a grain of salt until it is actually verified by Pokemon. If it is verified, then yay, we will be able to post other news this source has sent us since February and up until today. What you will see below is a sampling of some of the news the source has sent since February.

TL;DR – The source seems to be genuine, but still take the information below with a grain of salt. We are classifying it as unconfirmed. Do not soil our beach sand with red liquid if it turns out to be fake. :p

*Fairy will be a new type. It is weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it.

*Sylveon is Fairy-type. Some older Pokemon will be reclassified to Fairy, such as Mawile (Steel/Fairy).

*Mewtwo has two new formes, not just one. Both are activated via items.

*The professor’s English name is Patrice.

*The Starter final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Fighting, and Water/Dark.

*The first Gym is Bug, the second is Fairy, and the fourth is Fighting.

*A few attacks will be dual-typed.

*There will be a new type of battling style that Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon with Levitate can participate in.

*You will be able to see a Pokemon’s EVs at a certain in-game facility.

*You will be able to boost the EVs through mini-games. It will take about two hours to get one stat to max EVs.

The source has sent us a lot more information since then, including several English Pokemon names, but again, I’m not going to post any of it until something more substantial than an attack effect is verified. I don’t want to look like a complete fool if all of this is fake. If Fairy type and anything else above comes to be true in the next few weeks, I’ll put up the rest of the information. If all of this is fake, well, at least I didn’t let a potential good source go to waste – at least I tried to deliver potentially real and substantial news.

Following its reveal in CoroCoro on Saturday, The Pokémon Company has now announced the US names of the latest Pokémon. First, Gogoat shall be known as Gogoat. Elikiteru will be known as Helioptile, Yayakoma will be known as Fletchling and Yancham will be known as Pancham. In addition to this, they have also confirmed a few other bits. First, the Karos Region shall be called Kalos and Miare City shall be called Lumiose City. The move Parting Remark will be called Parting Shot and Parabola Charge will be Parabolic Charge.
It also confirms that at certain points you'll be able to get new outfits and accessories for your Trainer! It also confirmed diagonal movement. They also sent a new batch of directfeed screenshots, which have been added to our pre-release screenshot page. Click the image to go to the page

Vivillon is Bug/Flying, 3' 11", 37.5 lbs., and can learn Struggle Bug. It evolves from Spewpa, who has not been revealed yet.

Noivern is Flying/Dragon, 4' 11", 187.4 lbs., and uses a new attack called Boomburst which is a Normal type attack.

The Fairy type was officially revealed: Fairy-types include Sylveon (Fairy), Gardevoir (Psychic/Fairy), Jigglypuff (Normal/Fairy), and Marill (Water/Fairy).

Fairy is super effective against Dragon-type. This also matches with what our source told us. (And here's his other info.)

Sylveon knows a new move called Moonblast, a Fairy-type move which lowers its target's Sp. Atk stat. Gardevoir can learn Fairy Wind.

There will be a new Pokemon interacting feature called Pokemon-amie, which allows you to bond with your Pokemon by petting them, feeding them, and playing with them to "deepen the connection between you." You can copy the actions they're performing with your 3DS to make them even happier too.

The male player is named Xavier.

Old Pokemon still have their old sound effect cries.

Yveltal used Hyper Beam attack, which uses the exact same sound effect from Red and Blue.

Apparently there's a new way to encounter wild Pokemon - "Whoa! The Heloptile you stepped on attacked!"

X and Y will be released worldwide on October 12th.

I will be at E3 today, though I'm not sure I'll be able to get into the X/Y roundtable conference. Not only is it full, but it's reserved for large, general gaming websites that cover news about all types of games (sites like IGN, Gamespot, etc). Stay tuned though and I'll let you know what happens!

Don't forget CoroCoro will probably leak tonight with more information and more details! As I posted yesterday, if Mewtwo does have a new forme like our source said, it will undoubtedly be revealed in CoroCoro like Shaymin's Sky Forme and Keldeo's Resolute Form in previous years.

I’m live here at E3 and have just been treated to a new trailer for Pokemon X and Y revealing three new Pokemon and a new female character. My photos are below. None of the characters have been named as of yet.

The seahorse-looking Pokemon uses a Poison-type attack. The bird one looks like an evolution of Fletchling and used an (obviously) Flying-type attack. The blue crustacean thing used a Water-type attack.

I have no idea why the blond lady is speaking German – everything else in the trailer is in English, so she is probably an actual German-speaking character. According to an online translator, she says, “Do you want to have a sky battle with me?” This matches with what our source told us about a new type of battle system for Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon with Levitate. The bird Pokemon is Flying-type and Haunter has Levitate, so they’re obviously demonstrating that new type of battle system. However, both Pokemon only look to be in the air with no other apparent differences than normal battles (at least in this trailer). Right after the lady’s scene is when we see the bird Pokemon, so it is most likely hers. It should also be noted that there are a couple of spiky crystals in the area where she resides, though this could just be part of the landscape and not related.

There was also a scene where Froakie faces off against several Houndour (just as you see below). Will there be one vs. many battles?

Tonight I will attempt to attend the X and Y developer conference, though I probably won’t get in since the event is invite-only for large gaming organizations. Stay tuned though!

The X and Y roundtable event will begin at 6:00 PM, PST (look at the top left of the site to see when that is). From what I understand, no recordings of any kind are allowed in the room except for note taking. Invitations were sent out to large gaming websites anywhere from a few weeks ago to a few days ago by Nintendo and/or TPCi. Also, no fan sites (or at least just PokeBeach, lol) are allowed in the event. The room the event is taking place in is decorated with red and blue LED lights and Junichi Masuda stands at a podium in front of a projector screen.

We don’t know what information we will learn, but this post will be updated whenever we hear anything from attendees. I also sort of think the trailer I posted photos of earlier wasn’t meant to be shown that early since when we went back, its TV was off. When we went back again later, it was playing the trailer from today’s Nintendo Direct. Maybe they accidentally played it early? So maybe a lot of the reveals will have to do with that?

7:30: That’s a wrap!
7:25: You can ride Pokemon in areas that you need help, such as Rhydon in rocky terrain.
7:24: Online battles will basically be the same as before, but you can pick which music you want to use for them!

6:56: The Sky Battle demo is still going on, and Pokemon’s Twitter made a point of saying Talonflame was switched out for Haunter and that it’s surprisingly not a Flying-type. So this is obvious confirmation that as our leaker said Pokemon with Levitate are allowed.
6:54: Talonflame, a new Fire- and Flying-type Pokemon, has just been revealed in a Sky Battle demo against Noctowl. It’s the bird we showed earlier today.
6:53: As our leaker revealed, Sky Battles are limited to Flying-type Pokemon and a few others (Pokemon with Levitate?). A demo is about to be shown.

LONDON, UK—June 14, 2013— After a flurry of Pokémon activity this week at E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, The Pokémon Company International and Nintendo announced even more details this morning about the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games, launching worldwide October 12, 2013, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The games’ newly discovered Kalos region will feature many towns to explore, people to meet, and never-before-seen Pokémon to encounter. Players will also meet new Gym Leaders to challenge and collect Gym Badges from as they travel throughout Kalos. Many specific details are being shared for the first time today.

Welcome to Vaniville Town – Once a player has chosen to play as a male or female Trainer, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y begins in Vaniville Town. Step outside the house you just moved to and soon meet four new friends that will embark on a journey around the Kalos region with you. These four friends— Shauna, Tierno, Trevor, and Serena (if you play as a boy) or Calem (if you play as a girl)—are unique individuals:

Shauna is an incredibly energetic girl who is coming along on the journey to find a dream of her own. She’s friendly and outgoing, and seems to genuinely enjoy all the curiosities you’ll come across on your journey.

Trevor (orange hair) bursts with curiosity about the world around him. He’s an excellent student, and very competitive, wanting to be the first of the group to complete his Pokédex.

Tierno (black shirt) is the dancer of the group and wants more than anything to create a dance team with his Pokémon. Strong, kind, and light on his feet, Tierno gets easily distracted by watching opposing Pokémon during battles because he’s too busy trying to incorporate Pokémon moves into his dances.

Serena or Calem (the playable characters) lives next door to you in Vaniville Town. This character has a passion to become a powerful Pokémon Trainer and sets out on the journey to accomplish that dream.

Meet Santalune City Gym Leader Viola – The first Gym Leader players will encounter on their adventure is Viola, the Gym Leader of Santalune City, a pleasant city that is known for its large fountain and park benches. Players will learn about Viola by first meeting her older sister, Alexa, a journalist working for a publishing house in Lumiose City. Alexa insists that her sister will be happy to meet players visiting Santalune City. A professional photographer who specializes in Pokémon photography, Viola presides over the Santalune City Gym, whose interior is constructed from threads like spiderwebs, strung together tightly above the darkness. Players will need to find a safe path through these threads, and will receive useful advice from Viola when they battle her.

More never-before-seen Pokémon that players will encounter in the Kalos region have been announced this morning.

Litleo is a young, hot-blooded Pokémon that is always ready for a battle. In the wild, Litleo will venture out on its own to make its way in the world. A Fire- and Normal-type Pokémon, Litleo’s red mane blazes with heat during battle, which burns hotter when it battles very strong opponents. Litleo knows a new Normal-type move in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, Noble Roar. Useful against strong opponents, Noble Roar intimidates targets and lowers their Attack stat.

Debuting as a Fairy-type Pokémon along with Sylveon, Flabébé lives atop a flower that it chooses soon after it’s born and will care for its entire life. Players may see different Flabébé holding flowers of different colours when encountering them in the wild. Flabébé is able to draw forth hidden powers that lie within its flower and use those powers in moves while battling. Flabébé knows Fairy Wind, a Fairy-type move debuting in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y that summons a wind that blasts an opponent as it attacks. Like all Fairy-type moves, it’s super effective against Dragon-type Pokémon.

As Pokémon evolve, they take on new appearances and learn new moves. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will introduce the Bug-type Pokémon Scatterbug. Scatterbug knows String Shot, a Bug-type move that can lower the Speed stat of opposing Pokémon. This Bug type uses the fur around its neck to control its body temperature. Scatterbug evolves into Spewpa, another new Bug-type Pokémon that can withstand half-hearted attacks due to its stiff, fur-covered body. Use the Normal-type move Protect at a beginning of a turn to protect Spewpa from moves used against it on that turn. The final evolved form of Scatterbug, which was revealed earlier this week, is the new Bug- and Flying-type Pokémon Vivillon. It’s said there’s a secret behind the colourful decorative pattern on Vivillon’s wings, which it uses to scatter its scales or create a strong wind to attack. Vivillon can learn Struggle Bug, a Bug-type move that lowers the Special Attack of any opposing Pokémon it hits, so the move not only causes damage but also reduces the damage inflicted on Vivillon from certain moves during battle.

There is a new type of evolution called mega evolution in which some pokemon change apperance and some also change type a few of the ones I saw were mawile which is changed to steel/fairy blaziken which stays the same ampharos which becomes electric/dragon and a few others

CoroCoro magazine has revealed a new Pokemon mechanic called “Mega Evolution” as well as three new Kalos Pokemon. More information and clearer scans should be coming in the coming days. Thanks goes to Puddizzle for translating.

Some Pokemon will now have “Mega” forms which they achieve through a new mechanic called “Mega Evolution.” CoroCoro shows Mega Blaziken, Mega Lucario, Mega Absol, Mega Mawile, Mega Ampharos, and the previously-revealed Mega Mewtwo. They are each of slightly different heights and weights than their normal forms, feature new Abilties, and can be different types.

A Torchic will be distributed over Wi-Fi from October 12th to January 15th, which can eventually evolve into Mega Blaziken. It comes with a new hold item called “Blazikenite” and will need to use a “Mega Stone.” These are perhaps the item mechanics that allow a Pokemon to eventually achieve its mega form (our source had originally stated that Mewtwo needs items to achieve its new “formes”).

Each of the revealed Mega Pokemon have different Abilities than usual: Mega Blaziken has Speed Boost, Mega Lucario has Adaptability, Mega Absol has Magic Bounce, Mega Mawile has Huge Power, Mega Ampharos has Mold Breaker, and Mega Mewtwo has Insomnia.

Mega Ampharos is Electric/Dragon. Mawile has been retyped to Steel/Fairy. Its Mega form is the same.

The term “Mega Evolution” was first trademarked back in February.

A new female Gym Leader named Koruni knows all about Mega Evolutions.

Gogoat has a pre-evolution named Meikuru, who is 0.9m and 31.0kg.

Dedenne, the Antenna Pokemon, is an Electric/Fairy type. Its abilities are Pick Up or a new ability called Cheek Pouches. It is 0.2m and 2.2kg.

Horubii, the Digging Pokemon, is a Normal-type. Like Dedenne it also has the abilities Pick Up or Cheek Pouches. It is 0.4m and 5.0kg.

The Super Training area is seen in the scan of the new Kalos Pokemon.

If the Mewtwo in Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo’s Awakening is any indication, these Mega forms are only temporary forms and can be turned on or off (perhaps during battles while holding the “-ite” item). The forms probably reconfigure the Pokemon’s stats as well, as it was obvious in the film that Mewtwo was extremely fast when in its new form. If true, this will add a whole new dimension to battles since you’ll need to know the Mega Pokemon’s stats, new typings, new Abilities, etc.

Could these new Awakened Forms be some sort of DNA mechanic introduced by Team Flare? In the Genesect film, Mewtwo was being operated on by a couple of evil-looking scientists, and Mewtwo was able to change to the new form, so maybe the scientists had something to do with it (they obviously created that Mewtwo after all, and it is their Mewtwo which is able to change to this forme). The only evil characters in X and Y are Team Flare, so maybe the scientists in the film were them. This is all total speculation of course.

Mega Evolutions are the only thing I don't like thats been revealed. Both myself and my girlfriend are contemplating getting a 3DS for these games because they're pretty darn awesome looking.

Out of everything revealed so far I've been fine with it but this Mega Evolution thing is fucking stupid imo.

I don't see why they didn't just give Mawile and Absol REAL evolutions and not power ups that last for who knows how many moves in a pokemon battle..

I haven't played a Pokemon game since Silver. My girlfriend's brother has White and Black 2, but it seems too overwhelming to start any of those games, especially without a (3)DS.

So are these Mega Pokemon = Digimon? Also, is there a chupacabra pokemon yet? That's what I'm waiting for.

Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 are not overwhelming imo.

If you ever liked pokemon I'd say check it out.

BTW you don't need a 3DS to play those games just a DS/DSi.

It might be good to get a 3DS if you don't have any DS system since the X and Y will ONLY work on that system. But if you want to wait then you can probably get a cheat DS and then the 4th and 5th generation games online.

The Mega-Pokemon are not Digimon but I can see why people would make the comparison.

And nope so far no chupacabra pokemon although who knows there could be one this generation we don't have the complete Kalos Pokedex.

Following their reveal in CoroCoro yesterday, The Pokémon Company has now announced the US names of the latest Pokémon and features. First, the Mega Evolutions; MegaMewtwo, MegaBlaziken, MegaAmpharos, MegaMawile, MegaLucario and MegaAbsol retain their Japanese names. Lucario needs an item called Lucarionite
First, the rabbit Pokémon Horubii is to be called Bunnelby . Its new special ability, Cheek Pouches, has the name of Cheek Pouch. If a Pokémon with this Ability eats a Berry during battle, it will not only reap the benefit from the Berry, but the Pokémon will also be able to regain HP.
Next, the Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon Dedenne will be known as Dedenne . It Nuzzle, which looks cute as the user nuzzles up to a target with its cheeks fully charged, but it’s quite dangerous! Nuzzle will do damage while paralyzing the opponent.
Finally, the pre-evolution of Gogoat, Meekuru will be known as Skiddo. It is rideable in the field
Next, the Gym Leader Koruni will be known in English as Korrina. She is the Gym Leader in Shalour City where the Tower of Mastery is

Super Training or S.T. is being introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, allowing players to help their Pokémon grow stronger when they’re not in battle. On the Touch Screen of the Nintendo 3DS system, players can have their Pokémon participate in Super Training, activities that will increase a Pokémon’s Effort Values, the underlying values that define its HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed stats.
One Super Training activity involves having Pokémon train by facing huge Pokémon-shaped Balloon Bots in a virtual space, with both sides trying to shoot balls into the opponent’s goal. Using the Circle Pad and Touch Screen to avoid shots from the Balloon Bots while landing their own in the goal, players will enjoy this action-packed feature while increasing their Pokémon’s Effort Values to help them become stronger for battle.
For a more casual way to help Pokémon strengthen their Effort Values, Core Training lets players set up training bags, earned by completing Super-Training Regimens, for Pokémon in their party to use. Pokémon will work on Core Training by themselves, raising their stats on their own. By tapping on the Touch Screen during a Core Training session, players can help their Pokémon increase their Effort Values, too. Players will be able to see how their Pokémon are doing at their Core Training at any time from the main Super Training screen.
EVs can now be tracked by an Effort o Meter which shows the progress of the Pokémon and the amount in can still have.

As predicted, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise have Mega Evolutions. Update: Mega Venusaur has Thick Fat, Mega Charizard has Drought, and Mega Blastoise has a new Ability, Mega Launcher, which boosts its 'Pulse' moves [CRAP ability!]. All three of them retain their original type combinations.

Pokemon Bank is a 3DS app that will allow you to upload and store your Pokemon online. You can store them in 100 boxes for a total of 3000 Pokemon. You can thus keep your Pokemon in the cloud and deposit them or withdraw them as needed. You will also be able to search and filter through your boxes. Update: The app will be released on December 25th in Japan and December 27th in Europe. Update #2: You can use Pokemon Bank with multiple game copies. So if you own both X and Y, you can use the same set of boxes and upload and download the Pokemon to both.

Another 3DS app, Poke Transporter, allows you to upload your Pokemon from Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 to Pokemon Bank’s online storage. You of course need the games inserted into your 3DS and can then launch the application to begin the transfer. You can only download Poke Transporter after you download Pokemon Bank. Update: Both apps will also have built-in security features that prevent players from transferring hacked Pokemon.

Gamefreak has had the idea for Pokemon Bank for a long time – since Pokemon Crystal! They talk about how Shokotan’s grandkids can use her Pokemon in the future. Pokemon Box was the first realization of the idea.

Pokemon Bank is a paid service with an annual fee. It will be a long-term service and will be compatible with future titles. Update: The service will cost 500 yen a year ($5). There will be a free one month trial period until January 31st. You’ll apparently have to pay the annual fee after that. So you have a month to move all your old Pokemon over to X and Y if you don’t want to pay the annual fee.
