The following are highlights of WWE's monthly business figures for the period ending December 2012 released Tuesday.
- TLC PPV buys estimate is 170,000. Read the full report here.
- Q4-2012 was one of WWE's best Home Video quarter of the last three years. During the holiday season from October to December, WWE shipped 1,175,000 DVD units. The previous high over the past three years was 1,025,000 DVDs shipped in Q2-2010 following WrestleMania 26.
Fourth Quarter DVD business was highlighted by new releases on C.M. Punk, NWO, and the Attitude Era. Shipments included 120,000 for Punk, 106,000 for NWO, and 105,000 for the Attitude Era.
The concern from a revenue standpoint is the Home Video Price was $11 per unit, down from $14 per unit in Q4-2011 and Q4-2010.
- Domestic live event attendance in Q4-2012 was 5,700, down an average of 300 from the previous year's fourth quarter (6,000).
Part of the drop-off was more domestic live events in the quarter (52) compared to the previous year (47). WWE booked one fewer international tour in the quarter, which helped reduce expenses, but the added domestic house shows appeared to drag down quarterly attendance.
- WWEShop business was steady during the holiday season, likely aided by strong DVD sales. Merchandise orders were 125,000, up slightly from 119,000 in Q4-2011, but even with 125,000 orders in Q4-2010.
- In Q4-2012, WWE's website drew the least amount of traffic over the last three years in terms of unique visitors. WWE drew 11.2 million uniques in the quarter, down 12 percent from Q3-2012.
This appears to coincide with WWE heavily pushing their App, which is pulling WWE's audience away from the website. | |
