TNA Impact on Thursday, April 4 scored a 1.10 rating, up from a 1.03 rating last week. The rating was the highest since a 1.13 rating on March 7.
Impact averaged 1.425 million viewers, up 100,000 viewers (8.0 percent) from last week's live show. It was tied with the Mar. 7 episode for most viewers of the last month.
- Facing no NCAA Tournament competition, Impact ranked #31 on cable TV Thursday night, #16 among males 18-34, and #13 among males 18-49.
Impact increased one-tenth of a rating in m18-34 after hitting a near-year-low last week, but younger male viewers declined this week.
- One year ago this week, Impact scored a 1.15 rating. The key male demographics were similar.
Caldwell's Analysis: Back to the usual 1.1 rating and it's a reminder that live vs. taped doesn't matter. Next week should see an increase for the heavily promoted show, though, unless wrestling viewers are worn out after four hours of WrestleMania and three hours of Monday's Raw.

TNA Impact on Thursday, April 4 officially scored a 1.11 rating off a first hour 1.10 rating and second hour 1.12 rating.
It was the closest the first hour has been to the second hour this year, which was the result of the Q2 segment (Knockouts tag match) scoring the highest rating of the show and the second hour steadily dropping off throughout the hour.
Most concerning within the second hour is the 10-man tag main event of Team TNA vs. Aces & Eights scored the third-lowest quarter-hour rating of the show, then the Bully Ray-Brooke Hogan conclusion scored the second-lowest quarter-hour rating of the show.
First Hour Break Down
Q1: Impact opened with a 1.11 rating for Aces & Eights opening the show and Team TNA clearing them from the ring to set up the TV main event, plus one commercial.
Q2: Impact peaked with a 1.21 rating for the Knockouts tag match of Velvet Sky & Taryn Terrell vs. Gail Kim & Tara, one commercial, and the first-half of the Tag Title contract signing.
Q3: Impact dipped to a 1.09 rating for the conclusion of the contract signing, one commercial, and Adam Pearce vs. Magno in a Gut Check match.
Q4: Impact dipped to a show-low 0.99 rating for video packages on the Hogan/Sting business concerning Bully Ray, backstage skits, and two full commercial breaks.
Second Hour Break Down
Q5: Impact got its usual top-of-the-second-hour bump, but only to a 1.16 rating for Hogan calling out A.J. Styles, plus one commercial, and the opening of the X Division three-way match. (The 1.16 rating was about four percent below the Q5 average in 2013.)
Q6: Impact slightly declined to a 1.14 rating for the conclusion of the X Division match, one commercial, and ring introductions for the main event.
Q7: Impact declined to a 1.10 rating for the 10-man tag main event, which was lower than the 1.11 rating in Q1 to set up the match. There was one mid-match commercial in the 14-minute match.
Q8: Impact slightly declined to a second-hour-low 1.08 rating for the Bully-Brooke in-ring confrontation, plus one commercial at the start of the quarter-hour.
Caldwell's Analysis: That's not a good second hour pattern. Looking at Q7, there is a near-nine-month trend of viewers not interested in watching the Aces & Eights henchmen battle, especially not a thrown-together Team TNA group. In the weeks since Lockdown, TNA has tried to make A&E credible after booking the group like bumbling heels for several months, but it's coming at the expense of Team TNA, which needs their own credibility boost. Now, Team TNA is being "lowered" so that A&E can be "raised," but neither team is in position to benefit. What should give TNA hope for their next episode this coming Thursday is they have a one-on-one issue between Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy in the TV main event slot. | |
