Fun., Lumineers, Justin Timberlake Get Grammys iTunes Bump

What a difference a week, and a couple of Grammy Awards, makes. Following their wins at Sunday night's 55th annual Grammys, a number of the night's honored artists and performers enjoyed an immediate sales bump on the iTunes charts.

Among the biggest gainers were the two-time nominees the Lumineers, whose breakthrough song, "Ho Hey," jumped up from #5 to #1 on the iTunes singles chart as of Monday morning (February 11). (iTunes was unable to provide data for the morning before the Grammys in order to compare the acts' overnight movement.)

Album of the Year winners Mumford & Sons  charged back into the top 10 with "I Will Wait," which was lodged at #3. Another gainer was Justin Timberlake, whose comeback single, "Suit & Tie," moved six to #4 after his electrifying performance  on the broadcast.

Rihanna, who also played on the show,  skipped up to #5 with her ballad "Stay," followed by Fun., who won Best New Artist  and Song of the Year for "We Are Young." Their latest single, "Carry On," which they played in the midst of a driving rainstorm  on the show, also slid into the top 10, lodging at #6.

The iTunes album chart was a virtual Grammys takeover, as Fun rocketed to #1 after not even showing up in the top 10 the week before. They were followed by the deluxe edition of Mumford's Babel (#10 last week), as well as the regular version at #3, pre-orders for Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience (due out March 19), The Lumineers' self-titled album (#4 last week), the Black Key's El Camino and Alabama Shakes' Boys & Girls at #8.

Among other performers who enjoyed a singles sales uptick: Maroon 5 ("Daylight" was up two spots to #7) and Ed Sheeran, whose "The A Team" landed at #12. Even if they didn't make it into the top 10, plenty of other Grammy acts crowded the top 40 iTunes singles chart.

Among them: Taylor Swift, "I Knew You Were Trouble" (#13), Alicia Keys, "Girl On Fire" (#14), Black Keys, "Lonely Boy" (#15), Hunter Hayes, "Wanted" (#16), Fun. "Some Nights" (#17), Drake's new single, "Started From the Bottom" (#20), Gotye "Somebody That I Used to Know" (#22), Justin Timberlake's post-Grammys single,  "Mirrors" (#23), Miguel's, "Adorn" (#24), Carrie Underwood, "Blown Away" (#26) and "Two Black Cadillacs" (#38) and Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" (#28) and "Catch My Breath" (#33).

The Feb. 10 ceremony prompted sales spikes for both winners and nominees.

Along with their actual trophies, several Grammy winners and nominees saw a significant sales increases for their albums and singles following the Feb. 10 broadcast, which drew 28 million viewers.

Among the acts to gain a Grammy bump: fun., the best new artist winners who also took song of the year for "We Are Young," featuring Janelle Monae. Sales of the single spiked 182 percent, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band's album, Some Nights, saw 87 percent boost. The album's third single, "Carry On," which fun. performed during the telecast, was boosted 138 percent.

Sales of Mumford & Sons' album of the year winner Babel jumped by 50 percent, while their single, "I Will Wait," which the band performed on the show, rose 116 percent. The album is expected to return to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 next week. Babel is also benefiting from a pair of new deluxe versions of the album that were issued Feb. 5.

As it customary every year, the Grammys commemorated several artists from the past who have impacted popular music. Among this year's honorees was Bob Marley, who inspired a tribute delivered by Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Marley's sons Damian and Ziggy. The reggae icon's greatest hits album Legend also gained in sales to the tune of 81 percent.

Mars' album Unorthodox Jukebox and the eponymous set by The Lumineers, who performed their hit "Ho Hey" on the show, also are seeing serious bumps.

Frank Ocean, who was up for six Grammys and took home two, saw sales of his album Channel Orange surge by 140 percent.

Thats good news for all the artists. I didn't buy any of the songs but I added some to my playlists.

I didn't buy any either however it was nice to know that most of these Grammy artists saw their hard work pay off [even more] due to the Grammy bump.
