Report: Details Behind Announcers Burying Miz/Jericho Segment

It was an awkward segment last night on WWE Raw during Chris Jericho's "Highlight Reel", and Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler made sure the viewing audience knew it. During the final minutes of the in-ring, verbal showdown between Chris Jericho, The Miz, and Wade Barrett, and then especially when Brad Maddox came out to announce the Jericho/Miz match, Cole and Lawler began mocking the segment, saying it sucks, and begging for a commercial break.

Fans watching on TV were barely able to make out what was even being said in the ring due to Cole and Lawlers' laughter and jokes.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that this is a case when Vince McMahon is telling Cole and Lawler what to say through the headsets. When a segment is falling flat and the live audience isn't responding to such a level, as it was (or wasn't) last night, Vince has been known to bury it publically, plus those involved with it.

It's being said that Brad Maddox is the one that will most likely take the majority of the heat, as it was his part of the segment that really got awkward and embarrassing.

Well they can't blame bradd Maddox when he is made too look like an idiot.Its not anyone's fault but the person who came up with the idea of it.

Actually, its Maddox's fault simply for how he delivered his part of the promo. It came off as he didnt know what he was doing.

Brad was nervous obviously and not prepared...and i mean that like 'it was clear he was nervous just in how he stumbled a bit in his words'

poor kid wasnt ready and now we'll probably never seen him on tv again. Sad since he was quite the cutie. I could stare at him for hours.

Well HHH is taken him under his wing from what I heard.But Bradd Maddox has been acting like an "Idiot" for awhile he was like that on SD and I remember when he was acting like that when he called out The Shield.

He went ahead and said his scripted line to remove the Jerichotron... well after it had already been removed.

Jericho: It's already gone, you idiot!

Maddox is irritating. His gimmick reminds me of what Orton was doing back in like 2002 wth "RNN."

That whole segment in general was bad.

I must be the only person who thought King and Cole were great during that segment.

Jericho was just acting like a dick, like he knew the segment was blowing and I loved that.
