I'll give you Sin Cara, but other than him, what luchadors have been botch-heavy in comparison to their peers? Rey Mysterio has been more injury prone as of late, but he's been wrestling for 24 years (since he was 14) and in his prime, did things no one else did on a consistent basis.

More so than being injury prone, these "Mexicans who wear masks" add match variety, create plenty of dynamic match-ups style wise with current stars, expand the demographic for WWE, and can sell merchandise like crazy. The correlation between masked wrestlers and superheroes for kids is easy, and made easier with hero themed gear.

Samuray Del Sol could legitimately be the real deal, and gets a lot of comparisons to a young Rey. If that's even half true, it's an amazing signing for the WWE.

I agree with serial BUT if masked wrestlers sell why did they make Del Rio and Hunico take there mask off?.
This guy looks more Chinese/Japan then Mexican wrestler.

Well Del Rio had the mask while he was in FCW, but he isnt really a high flyer and what not.

Dead nailed it. ADR was always more of a HW-type wrestler, even in Mexico. He has an amateur wrestling and MMA background, so he did integrate some of that into his move-set.

Hunico did originally debut with a mask. He lost the Lucha de Apuestas match against Sin Cara in Mexico City, MX.

I guess as a face high-flyer, the mic skills are secondary, whereas a heel needs to be able to speak on the microphone. You really don't see too many masked heels in major American companies.
