The 8 Women With The Best Odds To Win Comedy Actress At The 2013 Emmys Are..?

By canvassing experts, editors and users, Gold Derby has determined that there are eight women still in contention to reap bids for Best Comedy Actress this year. Six of these will make the final cut when Emmy nominations are unveiled on July 18.

Those women with odds to win of better than 100/1 from any group in our poll -- our Experts, Editors, Top 24 Users, and Overall Users -- are profiled below.

This category was overstuffed with seven nominees last year, and all are eligible again this year. Four of them are past winners of this race for their current roles while two are multi-hyphenate past nominees and two are stars of well-reviewed laffers.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Veep") won this category last year and has previous Emmy victories for "Seinfeld" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine." She is a strong favorite to repeat at 9/4 with the support of 11 Experts, four Editors (Chris Beachum, Rob Licuria, Matt Noble, and David Schnelwar), 10 of our Top 24 Users and 28% of Overall Users. Experts backing her are Robert Bianco (USA Today), Debra Birnbaum (TV Guide), Mike Cidoni (Associated Press), John Kubicek (Buddy TV), Daniel Manu (TV Without Pity), Steve Pond (The Wrap), Lynette Rice (Entertainment Weekly), Matt Roush (TV Guide), Paul Sheehan (Gold Derby), Sasha Stone (Awards Daily), and Glenn Whipp (L.A. Times).

Last year, Lena Dunham ("Girls") reaped Emmy bids for acting, directing, writing, and producing but did not win any of these races. She is in second position for her lead role this time at 4/1 and has votes from one Expert (Lynn Elber, Associated Press; Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly), two Editors (Marcus Dixon, Daniel Montgomery), two of our Top 24 Users, and 19% of Overall Users.

Seven-time Emmy winner Tina Fey ("30 Rock") holds the third position at 5/1. She won this category in 2008 and this marks her final year of eiligibility for this one-time Emmy favorite. She has support from one Expert (Tom O'Neil, Gold Derby), one Editor (Darrin Dortch), and 16% of Overall Users.

Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation") had bids last year for acting and writing. She has 8/1 odds based on the support of one of the Top 24 Users, and 14% of Overall Users.

Zooey Deschanel ("New Girl") is favored to return as a nominee if not a winner this year as she is listed at 10/1 odds with 9% of Overall Users votes.

Four-time Emmy champ Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie") prevailed in this category in 2010. She contended in 2011 and 2012 and is in sixth place with odds of 14/1 based on the support of 5% of Overall Users.

The seventh slot is held by 2011 champ Melissa McCarthy ("Mike and Molly"), who was also nominated last year. She has 50/1 odds with only 2% of votes from Overall Users.

From the canceled series "Enlightened," Laura Dern is at 100/1 odds but does have 50/1 odds from Overall Users for an eighth place position.

This is by far the most stacked category of them all, let's not forget, Mary Louise Parker (Weeds), Patricia Heaton (The Middle) and Mindy Kalling (The Mindy Project) are also lurking at the bottom of the list. Even those three have strong contention going into these awards.

It's a stacked category, wonder if Tina Fey will get the last nominee pitty win.

Either way, i respect this category because it's the toughest of them all.
