According to Latino Review, G.I. Joe: Retaliation Director Jon Chu is reportedly on top of the list of Paramount's candidates to direct Star Trek 3. Other directors reportedly beign considered are Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6), Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
Chu is currently attached to direct the Masters of the Universe reboot as well as G.I. Joe 3, but with Paramount reportedly wanting Star Trek 3 to be released in time for the franchise's 50th anniversary in 2016, there is no word on how it will affect the other films.
