Bret Hart's Brother Says WWE is Doing Their Title Unification Wrong

Bret and Owen Hart's brother Smith Hart has posted a new column at PWMania.com discussing WWE's unification of the WWE and World Titles. Hart says that the company is wasting an opportunity and rushing the unification.

Hart wrote, "The problem is not with the unification itself, but rather the circumstances which surround it. First and foremost, a match of this calibre is something that should be built to over a period of time. "Hot-shotting" it to the next PPV with less than 3 weeks notice is such a waste of a golden opportunity. Second, the wrong talent are fighting for the opportunity. Both Cena and Orton are fabulous superstars but both have reached their respective pinnacles. Part of the success of Jericho's unification was the creation of a new top star, whom to this day lays claim to having beat both Steve Austin and The Rock in the same night to win the undisputed championship."

I agree, it is being rushed. I am.glad they're FINALLY doing this, though. On his point about Jericho: Jericho may wasn't on the same level as Rock and Austin, but was establidhed and respected enough that he could pull off being the first Undisputed WWE Champion. There is no one that can do that today. Punk has just had the greatest run as champion in over two decades and he is on par with Cena and Orton. He hasn't been around as long nor used as much for as long. There isn't another guy who fits the bill.

Cena/Orton makes most sense. They are the Rock/Austin or Bret/HBK of their era. Both have dominated. The compitition and each other. They are the two best in the company now so what better way to prove once and for all who's better by letting them beat the hell out of each other. Winner goes home with both belts and bragging rights.

This isn't the first unification match in wrestling history, but the storyline leading to the matches has been different.

Thankgoodness the brand extention is over and finally we're getting ONE champion. Two tag titles... gone. Two female titles... gone. Both cw/lw titles... gone (wouldn't mind one if these.) One midcard title is soon to be gone. And we only need one WORLD champion in one company.

I'm not too happy about this because the simple fact is that ALOT of people are gonna get screw out of this if we only have ONE world Title,One Mid Card Title.Im fine with there being only 1 Divas and Tag Titles.The Problem is that WWE has a big roster And there are so many guys and girls on there that are gonna get lost in the shuffle.

That's Where SD comes In because SD was A Great Brand to build Future Talent MANY people started off On SD such as MNM,Alberto Del Rio,Ryback the list goes on and on.This also proves that guys like Ziggler,Sandow and So Many Others that there never ever gonna be WWE Champion Atleast with the World Champion they had a chance.

I'm scared for the future of SD because SD is just gonna be a Superstars 2.0 show with random matches and nothing but RAW Recaps as if RAW is already bad enough.Thats why I love the brand extension because the booking was much better and it gave you a reason to watch RAW or SD you wanted to watch Raw to see Cena,Orton,Daniel Bryan and CM Punk and you wanted to watch SD to see guys like Ziggler,Sandow,Del Rio and others.They mine as well get rid of ALOT of people because half of them barely have a chance as it is.

Ppl aren't going to get screwed. Fans have been screaming this nonsense forever. Ted DiBiase anyone? Or how about John Morrison? Or Elijah Burke? Or Kennedy? Or how about Kofi? Everyone loves him, right?

There are countless guys who has been given a push and they disappointed. Some guys were with the company for a while. Some I didn't bother mebtioning. This is with two main and mid titles. Just because some fans like them doesn't mean they got or will get screwed... in all cases. I t means you are mediocre.
