WWE released monthly business figures on Thursday, including a preliminary figure of approximately 179,000 buys for the Survivor Series PPV.
This is based on WWE reporting an average of 171,000 buys for the first three PPVs in the current quarter; the average of the first two PPVs in October was 167,000 buys.
The PPV was held on November 24 and the figures are through November 30, so the final total will likely increase once all buys are accounted for, but the PPV was easily the least-bought Survivor Series of the last four years.
This year's Survivor Series was headlined by the forgotten main event of Randy Orton vs. Big Show for the WWE Title. This followed four PPVs that centered on the rug pulled out from under Daniel Bryan in WWE Title matches.
Last year's event drew 208,000 buys for C.M. Punk vs. John Cena vs. Ryback in a three-way match. Two years ago, Survivor Series drew 281,000 buys for The Rock's in-ring return teaming with John Cena in Madison Square Garden.
As of right now, the 2013 Survivor Series is sitting in-between fellow Fourth Quarter PPVs Battleground and Hell in a Cell. Battleground drew approximately 150,000 buys, while HIAC drew approximately 200,000 buys.
Final totals will be released when WWE reports Fourth Quarter 2013 earnings in early 2014.
