Deadline reports that distibutor Harvey Weinstein and director Bong Joon-Ho have finally come to an agreement over the film Snowpiercer. The two had been at odds over the films length and pacing and there were reports that the film may be edited for its US release.
Weinstein bought the fights at the 2012 American Film Market based on the script and sample footage, which included a wide release. Joon-Ho turned in a cut that was over two and a half hours. The agreement is that the film will no longer get a wide release, but instead a platform release with a roll out. It is not, however, being dumped to resolve the issue.
It stars Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton and Octavia Spencer. It has done well in Korea and France with some critical praise.
