Latino Review reports that Disney and Lucasfilm may be considering recasting the role of Indiana Jones for future films. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg reportedly always saw the series as their version of James Bond when they came up with the idea in Hawaii in May 1977 during the release of Star Wars.
A source said that while Harrison Ford could still play Indy in a new film, it's becoming less likely as time passes due to his age. There is a date set. If the fifth film isn't going forward by then, Disney may recast the role and prepare a new trilogy.
The latest word is that Bradley Cooper is at the top of the list for taking over the role, with Frank Darabont possibly writing the new film. He reportedly pitched an idea. Cooper hasn't signed any deal yet, he's just being considered if Ford does not reprise the role.
