Makabe vs. Sai set for ZERO1 8/29

G1 Climax winner Togi Makabe has been urgently added to ZERO1’s 8/29 Korakuen Hall show. His opponent? Fire Festival winner, Ryouji Sai, who appeared at New Japan’s G1 finale to challenge the tournament winner. This match was expected to happen at New Japan’s 9/27 Kobe World Hall show, along with probably Tanahashi vs. TAJIRI, but Tanahashi’s injury has forced the change of plans and now of course Makabe vs. Nakamura is set for that match, while the “strongest of summer” match between Makabe and Sai will happen in 01.
Tanahashi’s injury has also shaken up the 9/22 Gifu Industrial Hall show. This was originally supposed to be a 10th anniversary show for Tanahashi because he is a local boy there and debuted in 1999. Tanahashi assistance tickets were being sold but with his non-appearance New Japan is now offering either a full refund or a partial refund plus a regular ringside seat.
