A Friend

I wrote this on Facebook a few minutes ago because I needed to get things off my chest.

There are so many qualities in a friend, but there are also bad qualities in a friend. If you put your trust into one friend, that trust can be broken. Someone you thought would be there for you no matter what tells you something but then does the opposite. When you put your trust into this friend you simply get let down. They are no longer the person you thought they were, you see so many flaws in them you never saw before and it breaks your heart.



We all have had one of those friends and will continue to have one of those friends. But, don't we wish we just had a perfect life with perfect real friends who wouldn't talk behind our backs? Who wouldn't say they're going to do something and we get happy then they turn around and do the opposite and let us down?



"Friends come and go, but true friends stay forever" I would've agreed with this awhile back but now I don't. I don't believe in a true friend anymore because that friend broke my heart into pieces. I thought I was going to be happy again, I thought I wasn't going to be alone and miserable anymore, and I thought I would always have someone to turn to, but that isn't the case anymore. I only have myself and I will only rely on myself. I can't rely on other people, I only get my heart broken.



My description of a friend is one who is real, one who will never talk behind your back, who will defend you no matter what even if you're wrong, one who will stay up with you late at night if you're having a bf/family, etc. problem. One who loves hanging out with you even though you're completely different. One who understands you. One who you know you can trust with your heart and you know will never ever let you down.



I hope to have one of those again some day...

So tell me...what is YOUR description of a friend?

Someone who will be with you through thick and thin.

i like to go by this motto:

"A good friend reaches for your hand but touches your heart."

my description of a friend, is someone that is always there for me. listens to me no matter what the subject is. doesnt judge me. isnt afraid to tell the truth. doesnt keep things from me. someone that is loyal and sweet. someone that can cheer me up, forgives me when i forget to call. someone i can vent to and accepts me for who i am.

A good friend is loyal, someone you can trust. They are someone you can talk to and confide in. They won't stab you in the back, they will watch.

Here's the best definition of a best friend though:

"A good friend will bail you out of jail, a best friend will be in the cell next to you saying 'That was fucking awesome'."

I may have misquoted slightly but you get the idea.

A Friend is Amy (who is my current best friend)

We fight, we call each other names, we annoy each other, we laugh, we go out, we ask each other advice, we tell out other everything...........She completes me.....and that's about it

I like the last part of Mintz's post. That is what I describe as a friend too. I will add a true friend is someone who will accept me for who I am, wont try to change me. Wil lhelp me when I need it.
