Today’s History Lesson—September 20th

9/20/1997—highlights from WWF “One Night Only” (held in London, not broadcast in the United States, but was later released on VHS).
-The Headbangers defeat Los Boricuas, to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship.
-Bret Hart defeats Undertaker, by DQ. Hart retains the WWF Championship.
-Shawn Michaels defeats The British Bulldog, to win the WWF European Championship.

Also on this day, Devil Masami defeats Zero, to win the WCW Women’s Championship. Devil Masami would be the final person to hold this title.

9/20/1999—after winning the WWF Championship four days earlier, Vince McMahon decides to vacate the title.

9/20/2006—The Boogeyman is released from his WWE contract, for missing doctor visits and not staying in shape.

9/20/2008—Adam Pearce defeats Brent Albright, to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

9/20/2009—highlights from TNA “No Surrender”
-Samoa Joe defeats Daniels, to retain the X Division Championship.
-Taylor Wilde and Sarita defeat The Beautiful People, and become the inaugural Women’s Knockout Tag Team Champions.
-ODB defeats Cody Deaner, to win the vacant Women’s Knockout Championship (Intergender match).
-AJ Styles defeats Kurt Angle, Sting, Matt Morgan, and Hernandez, to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship (five-way match).
