'Sunny': 'I've Never Been A Huge Fan Of Women's Wrestling

Former WWE performer Tammy Sytch (a/k/a Sunny) spoke with Alfonso Castillo of Newsday.com regarding her new cookbook, and commented on whether some of the current Divas would be more valuable outside the ring.

"Yes, maybe some of them," Sytch replied. "I've never been a huge fan of women's 'wrestling,' and have always thought it's best left to the guys. Some of the girls out there aren't so talented inside the ring, and I think that just exposes the business even more. You wouldn't put a Doctor with a shaky hand into surgery, now would you?"

Sytch was also asked about her limited involvement in the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXV and whether she regrets participating.

"My actual return was on the 15th Anniversary of Raw show, in December of '07, and I was featured nicely then. Had my own music, entrance, introduction, it was fun! Doing Wrestlemania was just the icing on top of that. I had a blast, but pay-per-view's are timed out and so stringently, that there was nothing anyone could do to focus on any of the girls."

She actually sounded humble here.

She may or may not ahve a point but she has no room to talk. She rode that Diva train like the rest of those bitches did and do, she's no better.

Funny how Sunny says she's not a fan of women's wrestling, which is why she never got into it, she's a bitch who needs to get stfu......when Terri Runnels aka Marlena said the same thing....and everyone likes saying "She the true original Diva"


I think there are a group of people who should get their head checked.

Leave it to the guys? Well, most of the women in WWE perhaps. There are plenty of great female wrestlers around the globe.

Ohh there are MANY people, including on this forum loves saying "Terri Runnels" was the first and original Diva....whenever a Sunny topic comes on..

It doesn't really matter to me who was the first they both sucked.

Only good at managing and there were better valets then them imo as well..

I disagree with that....Sherri Martell, Ms Elizabeth, Sunny and Marlena were the best Valet's in WWE history, they were women who can do it all.

The ONLY woman in the last 10 years who was near them was Sharmell

Sharmell could shine and not take the attention away from their guy. Natalya and Chelsea did good as well...but Sharmell was just better.

Melina pulled attention away from her guys, Trish and Lita did the same, Maryse is doin the same with Ted, Vickie is doing the same with Dolph, they just don't fully get the job of a Valet.

You have to manage to stand out.....with out pulling the focus away from the guy you are supposed to managing...not that Melina, Trish, Lita, Maryse and Vickie are doing a bad job.....just they didn't fully understand the task at hand.

Maybe because all those names you listed weren't known for being strong wrestlers, whereas people like Melina and Lita were wrestlers, and therefore would garner some attention as well.

Honestly, Terri is just plain irrelevant, with Sunny falling second. Original divas? Elizabeth and Sherri were the original first ladies and the later two can't hold a candle to them.

Dunno about that, Natalya was a wrestler and did damn good. Traci Brooks was a wrestler and learned about wrestling valeting......her boobs was just the damn distraction....Boobs aside i think Traci could have been a WAY better valet.

If you listen closely, you can hear the sound of the entire Shimmer locker room rolling it's eyes.

There are a ton of talented female wrestlers out there, the only problem is the major company in the business treats female wrestling as an afterthought and spend their time hiring models/actresses/singers instead of the many talented women wrestlers working the indies.

I kinda see Sunnys point in a way. There are quite a few women who could be very over without needing to wrestle and who probably shouldn't . As for Terri, I was a big Terri fan. She had plenty of sparkle and took a pretty good table bump at the hands of the Dudleyz. What I liked about the division in those days was thatwonen like Terri and the Kat were mainly valets and when they did wrestle, it was clear they were there mainly as eye candy while women like Jacqueline and Ivory were the serious wrestlers.
Nowadays there are far too many women like Kelly and Rosa who have clearly very little wrestling aptitude and it is a joke that the WWE try to make them appear legitimate women wrestlers.

Thats the way I felt too Chloe. If WWE was like it was now back then, we'd have Stacy Keibler defeating Jacqueline cleanly and things like that. Though Trish was inexperienced and still was shoved down our throats as a legitimate wrestler.

That's true I guess, there are good and bad aspects about every era of womens wrestling. I do think the current roster of women is probably about as talented as we're going to wrestling wise. If you just trimmed off the surplus, or gave them valet, on screen roles, then gave the remaining women greater character development and less limitations when it came to wrestling, it would really prove people like Sunny wrong .
I think the other key to making the women legitimate is have more veterans around to help the up and comers seem more credible in their matches but treat the more experienced wrestlers with the respect they deserve. If you had Jacqueline still on the roster , training the girls, maybe Ivory teaching them promo skills and Gail Kim wrestling a lot more matches with them, they're going to be do much more watchable IMO.
