Cristiane 'Cyborg' Santos Offered WWE Contract Update

Sources close to Strikeforce Women's Middleweight Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos indicate the Brazilian mixed martial artist is in negotiations with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Two weeks ago, Cristiane attended a WWE live event in California with her husband, Strikeforce fighter Evangelista Santos. She was offered a contract on the spot.

Christiane has not been offered a fight since her June 26, 2010 bout against Jan Finney. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker declined to comment on the matter, but it is largely assumed the promotion has been unable to find any willing participants over the course of the past nine months. For those who don't follow MMA, she is a huge name in the MMA world.

Santos fought Gina Carano on August 15, 2009 at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg for the Women's Middleweight Championship (145 lbs). Santos won via TKO at 4:59 of the 5:00 first round.

We broke the news last night that sources close to Strikeforce Women's Middleweight Champion Cris "Cyborg" Santos indicate the Brazilian mixed martial artist is in negotiations with World Wrestling Entertainment to permanently join the promotion. In an update on the situation, Bloody Elbow reports that according to a source, talks are in the "advanced" stage as a deal could soon be reached. However, the MMA news site also speculates that those affiliated with Cyborg could be using the claims for leverage with Strikeforce to have a fight scheduled.

Meanwhile, former WWE Women's Champion Beth Phoenix took to Twitter to comment on the rumors of Cyborg possibly joining WWE.

She wrote, "Rumours of Chris Cyborg coming to WWE are.....Interesting...its easy to dominate in any fighting division without the Glamazon. In WWE? Prepare to humbled by yours truly."

It's mainly happening cause they ain't booking her in matches and her contract expired so the feeling is that she might be trying to use WWE to get a better deal and them to put her on more cards. I think MMA knows it mainly true in alot of sports people don't want to see women beat the hell out of each other. I mean her last fight was almost two years ago now. So my guess is this is her either telling them put me in fights or take your belt and I am gonna go to wwe. That's all they would do she would forfeit the belt many champions do it in fighting sports to retire and stuff. It will hurt the division for women mma but I don't think there is much a demand for it. A lot of people don't like mma for how violent it is with males even in the matches so females are way worse to the public.

Gina wuld be perfect for WWE. She can kick ass and she's gorgeous.
