Batman: Arkham City Closes In On 5 Million Units After 7 Days!

Just seven days after Batman: Arkham City went on sale in the US and a mere four days since its European launch, publisher Warner Bros. has announced it has shipped 4.6 million units of Rocksteady's superhero adventure. Holy ker-ching, Batman.

It's worth noting that this figure represents the number of units shipped to retailers, not necessarily sold through to customers, but publishers and retailers are a canny bunch and don't deal in those kinds of numbers.

The figure is more than double that which Arkham Asylum achieved in 2009, and prompted Warner Bros President Martin Tremblay to congratulate the London-based franchise developer: "Rocksteady Studios went above and beyond in delivering an incredible game and the support of the entire team at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment drove the excellent campaign a game like this deserves."

Game director Sefton Hill of Rocksteady Studios added, "The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City. The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community."

Unfortunately, despite the largely positive response from critics and fans, a small number of Arkham City community members were left less than delighted last week when they ran into problems caused by the game's DLC packs.

Batman: Arkham City is out now on PS3 and 360. The game launches in November for PC.

Do you have this game or have you played it?

I don't have it yet but i want to get it.

It looks cool but I won't get it because I won't have much free game time for it considering Skyrim comes out in like 10 days!

Shortly after that comes out WWE 12 does as well so those two will get most of my free time devoted to video games.

Still congrats to the game on getting awesome critical and commercial success.
