3 Historic Records Adele Tied Last Night:

As expected, 2011's top-selling artist Adele won Record and Song of the Year for "Rolling in the Deep" as well as Album of the Year for "21." She thus became only the sixth music act in history to sweep the Grammy Triple Crown in one year following past romps by Eric Clapton, Dixie Chicks, Christopher Cross, Carole King and Paul Simon.
Because Adele also won Best New Artist three years ago, she now reigns as only the second artist to win all of Grammy's four highest honors over time. The other was Christopher Cross.
Adele also won Pop Solo Performance ("Someone Like You") and Pop Album as well as Short-Form Music Video for "Rolling," bringing her tally for this year to six. That ties the record set two years ago by Beyonce for the most victories in a single year by a female artist. Only Michael Jackson has scored more over all (8 in 1983).

CBS' Grammy show ranks No. 2 all-time with 39 million viewers

It was a big night for Adele, and it was a big night for the Grammys.
Sunday's awards show on CBS was the second-most watched of all time, with a giant 39 million total viewers, according to Nielsen.
The only Grammy telecast with more viewers was in 1984, when 43.8 million tuned in. That was the year that Michael Jackson won a record eight Grammys. Last year's show attracted 26.7 million viewers.
This time, the performer of the evening was British torch singer Adele, who won all six awards for which she was nominated. She also performed live, as did Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Chris Brown, Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson and others. The show also featured tributes to Whitney Houston, the 1980s diva who died over the weekend.
Among viewers 18 to 49, the key demographic for many advertisers, the 3 1/2-hour show delivered a 14.1 rating, the best since 1990.

Adele's '21' poised to tie 'Bodyguard' soundtrack for No. 1

Adele’s “21” album is that rarity: a collection that’s the nation’s bestseller collecting the album of the year Grammy Award.
The recordings and artists who land the top awards and get significant camera time during the Grammy telecast can count on major sales bumps in the days after the show, which puts “21” in a good position to extend its run at No. 1, now totaling 19 weeks.
Should it hit a 20th week, that will put it in a tie for the all-time chart leader with ... Whitney Houston’s “The Bodyguard” soundtrack album -- the Grammy album of the year winner for 1992.
“We had the all-time record with ‘The Bodyguard,’ so this one has a personal impact too,” Clive Davis said last week, before Houston died a few hours before Davis Grammy-eve soiree at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The sales fallout from Sunday’s show won’t fully be reflected in the next Nielsen SoundScan sales report, which covers a sales period from Monday through Sunday. Chart watchers are projecting the new Van Halen album will displace Adele on Wednesday, when the new sales figures are made public, but with the boost “21” will be getting, Adele may well be back at the top of the heap.
And if she scores a 21st week and breaks the tie?
“Records are made to be broken,” Davis said, “so I celebrate Adele achieving all this.”
