Modern Family Steals number one spot.....Kinda
Modern Family recently became TV’s number one scripted (average) show, Two and a Half Men continued into it’s rating decline, being beat last Monday by 2 Broke Girls (3.4 to 3.6) and has dropped into second position. This is a bit surprising since it had a 10.7 in it’s first week, a 7.4 in it’s second week and a 6.2 in it’s third week. Since then in 2012 it has been average about a 3.5 every episode.
Though Modern Family climbs to top position, it still isn’t the number one show that airs. The only reason why it is at number one is because it had a better season premier than the show who is currently number Three. And also because it’s rating decline didn’t come until recently. Averaging about 4.8 per episode.
The show that currently holds the position as the weekly number one scripted program but still holds the third spot in Season Average is The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory has been the most Stable series all season long. With a Season Premier of a 4.9 and only hitting it’s season high of a 5.6 mid season. Big Bang has had 70% of all their episode rate higher than the 5’s. Not only that but it also beats American Idol on Thursday nights in it’s half hour. No scripted or unscripted show in television history has ever went head to head with American Idol and beat in ratings.
These 3 comedies remain the top 3 scripted series on Television and with this Season of shows coming to an end, I don’t see much changes aside from The Big Bang Theory getting top position. Though it will have to battle American Idol every week to get that position.
