Can Jim Parsons Win Third Consecutive Comedy Actor Emmy?

There are two guaranteed openings in the Emmy Award race for Comedy Actor with the departure of Steve Carell ("The Office") and the ineligibility of Matt LeBlanc ("Episodes") due to no new episodes this season.

Of the other four nominees from last year, reigning two-time champ Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory") and his co-star Johnny Galecki are expected to possibly return, as are two-time winner Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock") and Louis C.K. ("Louie").

Four-time nominee Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") is eligible once again and should be a strong bet to gain a slot. Matthew Morrison ("Glee") is the only other man who has been nodded before for his current role.

With new lead billing on his show, it is also very possible that Emmy supporting winner Jon Cryer ("Two and a Half Men") could move into the lead category. His new co-star Ashton Kutcher could also contend.

Actors who have attempted in previous seasons with no success are Kevin Connolly and Adrian Grenier ("Entourage"), David Duchovny ("Californication"), Neil Flynn ("The Middle"), Billy Gardell ("Mike and Molly"), Ed Helms ("The Office"; subbing for Carell?), Thomas Jane ("Hung"), Rob Lowe ("Parks and Recreation"), Joel McHale ("Community"), Lucas Neff ("Rasing Hope"), and Josh Radnor ("How I Met Your Mother").

Rookie shows have the following eligible contenders: Tim Allen ("Last Man Standing"), Will Arnett ("Up All Night"), Don Cheadle ("House of Lies"), Warwick Davis ("Life's Too Short"), Rob Schneider ("Rob"), Jeremy Sisto ("Suburgatory"), and Elijah Wood ("Wilfred").

So which comedy actors do you see getting nominated and who would you want to get nominated?

I think they already said it Jim Parsons, Johnny Gallecki, Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Lous C.K. are the sure nominees. No idea who it will be, but most likely Elijah Wood.....aside from him no idea who the final spot would go too. Because i don't see Matthew Morrison getting it...and Jon Cryer should just stay where he is....in the supporting category.

Louis CK's show has been amazing, but I'm not certain if it has the mainstream appeal that a show on CBS would.

Lol Funny enough...i tried watching Louie and didn't like it at all..it was meh.

Then again don't enjoy most comedies on CBS either lol. I only watch 2 Broke Girls and The Big Bang Theory...i listen to Rob & Mike & Molly while i do stuffs on my laptop. My taste in comedy is really weird... Some of my faves are:

Your list is better than I thought it would be. I really don't watch many shows from the main channels. I like Comedy Central and FX. I love a lot of the comedies/guy shows on HBO, like Eastbound and Curb. I loved Entourage and How to Make It when they were on.

I don't really watch Showtime except for MMA and Weeds (although I've hated the last few seasons.)

Oh, and I hate Chelsea Handler.

Oh eastbound and down, i tried with that as well. Not a fan. But How to Make it was GREAT i loved it.

the last season was good. the one before it....was bad, it was all over the place, random and made little sense.

I'm really hoping the next one is the last....since the show has really run it's course.

How To Make It got cancelled with Hung and Bored to Death.

LMAO I think i mixed up my convo....was refering to Weeds lol....the last season was good but the one before that was all over the place.

The last season was random as hell, as well. You miss one episode and it is a completely different angle.

Neil Patrick Harris and Warwick Davis should join the catagory metihnks.

Warwick Davis is eligible for this Category.

But Neil Patrick Harris has always been (and i think he once won) for Supporting Actor in a Comedy. Never been nominated for the Leading Role.

I guessed he would be in the Supporting Catagory when his name didn't appear above. But I reckon he is the most recogniseable character from How I Met Your Mother, plus features heavily in a lot of the story's told in the show. Surprised he's not considered a lead actor in the show.

Thing is, you choose your own submission, most shows featuring a large cast that kind of have the equal amount of screen time usually all submit their episodes for Supporting Roles.
Both Happy Endings and Modern Family are perfect example.

No one gets nominated for leading role all submit their names for Supporting roles.

But i do believe How I Met Your Mother submits for both categories and Neil Patrick Harris chooses to be in the Supporting category,

Didn't know how these things worked. I thought it was a board of some sort went through all the eligible shows and picked through that.

Nah, all the actors Pick an episode and submit that episode wherever they feel best suited. Of course the episode they pick shows their strongest performance that Season. The Episodes are reviewed and screened and then the Nominations are announced.
