Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series:

Let’s start with the usual suspects:

Toni Shalhoub – Monk
This might be the last year he gets nominated for the EMMY and he has won this award 3 times and was nominated for all the seven Seasons of the show. So An Eight nominee might be his perfect score. I see him getting nominated because he is just a damn EMMY Favorite. Although the series ended in December, let’s see how much recognition he still has since then.

Alec Baldwin – 30 Rock

His crazed egoistical over the top character has also been an EMMY Favorite for years now. He also is coming off a Golden Globe win and won the EMMY last year. 30 Rock remains one of the stronger comedy’s in this category. I don’t see anyone dethroning Alec Baldwin for this award. He might just go home with it.

Steve Carrel – The Office

He’s been a permanent fixture in this category the last couple of years. So It is no surprise to see his name show up once again. So this funny man is going to show up in this category for sure.

Charlie Sheen – Two and a Half Men

Maybe because of his personal Life they might actually snub him of this award. BUT he has been one name to show up in this category and has made his name a permanent name and I don’t see them tossing him aside.

Ok so we have the usual four, but now we have 1 maybe 2 spots open for anyone and everyone and for a change, it’s actually a nail bitter.

Let’s look at last year’s emmy’s.

Jemaine Clement – Flight of the Chonchord

Now he was one of the surprise nominees last year, which is why we can’t forget him. Although I don’t see him as strong as a contender as last year, but seemingly the EMMY’s love him. I won’t say we’ll see him amongst the nominees, but I won’t be surprised if we do.

Jim Parson – The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is slowly becoming a respectable show and one of the show’s to watch. Not only is Kaley Cucou a possible Nominee for Best Lead Actress and The Show itself a possible Nominee for Best Comedy. Jim Parson could be another strong nominee for best lead actor in a comedy. And to be honest, I wouldn’t be to disappointed to see his name amongst the nominees.

Thomas Jane – HUNG

Thomas Jane shocked the world and was nominated at the Golden Globes for his role in HUNG, HUNG might be one of the underdogs in this category because of it’s edgyness. But I see this as one of two nominees Hung will receive at the EMMY’s and really hoping to see his name amongst the top nominees.

Matthew Morrison – GLEE
Though he may seem as a front runner, like Lea Michelle, I’m really on the bubble with this one. But he made his name at the Golden Globes and thus far there hasn’t been any other strong Lead Males, so his name might pop up.

David Duchovny - Californication

Like Thomas Jane, an edgy character but I believe he has never been an EMMY Favorite, despite being a top Nominee at the Golden Globe. This is another name I’d love to see an the nominee sheet. His performance has been really great thus far.

Josh Radnor – How I Met Your Mother

He could also pop up amongst the nominees, but it’s very likely. Although his chances are slimmer then the other names mentioned.

Zach Braff – Scrubs

Because this is the last season of Scrubs, I could see them giving him a nominee out of pitty. He hasn’t been nominated in this category since 2006 I believe, could be wrong. But like Josh Radnor, his chances are also pretty slim.

Zachary Levy – CHUCK

Recently reniewed for a new Season, We could see Chuck break through and finally pull off a nominee. Though, his chances are really stronger then before. Despite the decent list of lead actors this time around.

Adam Scott – Party Down

Despite being weirdly Sexy, we could see Party Down get some credit. It’s still a pretty unknown show, but with people like Jane Lynch and Megan Mullaly who have been part of the cast it should grow. This is also rumored to be Adam Scott’s last stint with Party Down, so let’s hope it goes will with an EMMY Nominee.

James Rodey – Psych

With Monk out of the picture, USA Network could bank on Psych to keep it’s EMMY prestigue. It’s a good show and he’s been good in his role. Not as strong as the rest of the men, but he’s been decent.

Nathan Fillion – Castle

Another show with a Cult Following, his name might pop up. Castle will most likely be on the bubble in this one, but I have a feeling, his name is being tossed around.

Patrick Warburton – The Rules of Engagment

I haven’t seen this show, but I’ve heard great things about this dude, so he is a prospective nominee as well.

John Corbet – The United States of Tara

Well aside from having one sexy booty for his age, I see John Corbet being another possible nominee. If The United States get nominated, I’m sure its going to be for it’s acting, because thus far, it’s overall the strongest show in acting when looking at all the shows.

Edit- Forgot these two

Adrie Gernier - Kevin Connely - Entourage

Always got nominations in supporting roles, but they have been nominated for lead actors in the past, especially Kevin Connely, so let's see how they do this time around

Sadly I don’t see any Male leads from new shows like accidentally on purpose, The Middle or Modern Family snagging any awards or nominations. When it comes to quality, it’s not as strong as the guys I’ve mentioned. Although I LOVE accidentally on purpose and The Middle, I don’t see Jon Foster and Neil Flynn as strong contenders. Although I’d say the same about Zach Braff, so they could surprise us.

This category is so weak, I only care about Matthew Morrison so of course he should get some love.

Jim Parsons and Steve Carrell are also cool
