TNA Impact on Thursday, August 23 scored a 1.15 rating featuring Hulk Hogan's advertised TV return, up eight percent from last week's 1.06 rating.

The overall rating was the highest of the live summer run and highest rating since a 1.16 rating on February 2.

Impact averaged a year-high 1.72 million viewers, two weeks removed from averaging 1.21 million viewers up against the final Thursday of the Olympics.

The previous 2012 high was 1.61 million viewers on Feb. 2. The previous live summer high was 1.58 million viewers on July 26 - the day before the Olympics opening ceremony.

On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #29 on cable TV and #7 among males 18-34 and males 18-49.

The overall rating was boosted by significant increases among key males. The males 18-34 rating was up three-tenths of a rating from last week to the highest rating of the year. The males 18-49 rating was up two-tenths of a rating compared to last week to the highest rating of the year.

Impact continued to struggle with teen males, though, as m12-17 declined one-tenth of a rating compared to last week.

TNA Impact on Thursday, August 23 officially scored a summer-high 1.16 rating for Hulk Hogan's return to TV. The show scored a first hour 1.05 rating and second hour 1.27 rating.

Whereas the new first hour continues to drag down the overall rating, Impact's second hour drew the highest rating for any hour of the year. It was the highest-rated hour since November 2011 and highest-rated final hour of any show since the Impact after Bound for Glory in October 2011.

Impact hit two peaks - a 1.32 rating at the top of the second hour for the Styles/Claire Lynch reveal and wrap-up, and a 1.40 rating at the end of the show in Q8. The 1.40 rating was the highest-rated quarter-hour of the year.

First Hour Break Down

Q1: Impact opened with a show-low 1.00 rating for Sting in the ring calling out Aces & Eights and the advertised Hulk Hogan return at the top of the show, but without Hogan appearing until later. There was also one commercial. It continues to reflect the audience slow to tune in for the start of the show in the earlier timeslot.

Q2: Impact increased to a 1.06 rating for Miss Tessmacher vs. Tara with Taryn Terrell as special referee. There was also one commercial.

Q3: Impact was essentially flat with a 1.04 rating for A.J. Styles vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Robbie E. in a BFG Series match, plus one-and-a-half commercials.

Q4: Impact peaked for the first hour with a 1.08 rating for Jeff Hardy in the ring for a promo, Hardy vs. Rob Terry, and one-and-a-half commercials.

Second Hour Break Down

Q5: Impact jumped to a 1.32 rating for the A.J. Styles paternity test segment that included TNA wrapping up the story with the reveal of Claire Lynch blackmailing Styles. There was no commercial during this segment, as it went the full 15 minutes uninterrupted.

Q6: Impact dipped to a 1.18 rating for Gunner vs. Kris Lewie in the Gut Check audition match, plus there were two commercial breaks.

Q7: Impact stayed at a 1.18 rating for Mr. Anderson vs. Bully Ray in a BFG Series main event. There was one commercial break.

Q8: Impact closed with a 1.40 rating for the end of Anderson-Bully, one commercial, and Sting returning to the ring eight minutes before the top of the hour to call out Aces & Eights, which led to a show-closing brawl and injury angle involving Austin Aries.
