WWE Smackdown on Friday, May 17 scored a year-low 1.78 rating leading into the Extreme Rules PPV, down from a 1.86 rating the previous week. This was the lowest rating since December 2012.
Smackdown averaged 2.435 million viewers, down 100,000 viewers (four percent) from the previous week's show. It was the least-watched first-run Friday episode of the year and least-watched in nearly one year dating back to June 2012.
There was no NBA Playoffs competition on Friday night and no major competition outside of the season premiere of Discovery's "Sons of Guns" show, which out-performed Smackdown in the key male demographics.
On cable TV Friday night, Smackdown ranked #6 in overall viewers, #5 in males 18-34, and #4 in males 18-49, reflecting a weak night of television if Smackdown still averaged a Top 5 finish with their weakest performance of the year. | |
