New Year's Resolution for WWE

Here's a list of new year's resolutions that WWE should follow for 2010.

New Year's Resolutions
At the start of every new year, millions and millions of people from around the world come up with a list of things that they hope to accomplish in order to make themselves a better person.
Well, we've taken the liberty of coming up with the list for WWE.

  • Rebuild the Tag Team Division

I'm easily one of the biggest Chris Jericho fan on the planet. However, I don't buy it for one bit that the tag team division has been rejuvenated. The moment Chris Jericho goes back to the singles division is the money that this dies again.

Take the belts off of makeshift tag teams (i.e. Chris Jericho & Big Show, Shawn Michaels & Triple H, etc) and put them on an actual tag team.

The company has plenty of guys to create a decent tag team division. Here's a quick list.

    1. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase
    2. Carlito & Primo Colon
    3. MVP & Mark Henry
    4. Charlie Haas & Mike Knox
    5. CM Punk & Luke Gallows
    6. Tyson Kidd & David Hart Smith
    7. Caylen Croft & Trent Barretta
    8. Vladimir Kozlov & Ezekiel Jackson
    9. Zack Ryder & Tyler Reks
    10. Shad & JTG

Some of those guys aren't official tag teams, but since neither one is doing anything in the singles division, they might as well pair them up and make them useful.

  • Give Sheamus Some Credibility

WWE has already pulled the trigger on pushing Sheamus. We all know it was done too fast, but there's nothing we can do to change that now.

With that in mind, it means that WWE needs to do everything possible in order to give him the credibility that he needs. He needs it to stay in the main event level. Otherwise, he'll become a flop and will never be accepted by the fans.

He needs to be placed in good programs with solid veterans like Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, and Triple H. Those guys are more than capable of elevating his game and making him look like a legitimate top level guy.

  • Avoid the Rematches

Wrestling fans don't want to see a match between Randy Orton and John Cena again. Same thing with Randy Orton and Triple H. Or Batista and Undertaker.

Those guys are all solid performers, and they always put on a really good show. However, this isn't like the old days where wrestling fans can watch Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair battle it out for an entire year. It's a different era. The industry doesn't appear capable of extending things like it used to.

It's impossible for the company to not resort to these rematches in 2010. However, they can rely on it a lot less if they make it more of a priority to bring some guys up. They're already off to a great start with Kofi Kingston. Keep it going.

  • Be Motivated By TNA

Everyone that understands the wrestling business knows that Vince McMahon is a man that needs competition. With competition, the switch inside him gets flipped on and becomes a marketing genius.

Certain uninformed fans tend to deny blindly that TNA has become competition for WWE. That's incorrect. They've definitely become competition. Sure, they might not equal WWE any time soon or ever at all, but they're competition.

With TNA trying to start the year with a big bang (Hulk Hogan, nWo, etc), hopefully, it will be enough to spark something inside Vince McMahon. If that happens, then we're about to head upwards on the roller coaster that we call professional wrestling.
TNA Signs Jeff Hardy

TNA wanted big surprises for their special Monday night edition of iMPACT! There were a lot of surprises, but none were bigger than Jeff Hardy showing up.

TNA Signs Jeff Hardy
When the rumor mills started churning out word that Jeff Hardy was leaving WWE, there was a lot of denial. WWE fans simply did not want to see him leaving their favorite wrestling promotion.

When Jeff Hardy actually left the company, there was sadness from WWE fans. However, there was some relief because he was going to be leaving the company to take time off. He might come back to WWE. There was no fear of him going to TNA.
When Jeff Hardy was arrested on drug charges, WWE fans still were supportive of him, hoping that he would one day return to the company. Some even came up with conspiracy theorist ideas in an attempt to clear his name online.

When rumors first started heating up over the last few days about the mystery guests that were supposed to show up, just about every single free agent wrestler was named. The exception was Jeff Hardy.

When rumors spread this weekend about Jeff Hardy possibly showing up in TNA, there was a lot of denial. Not just denial either, but extremely emotional ones.
When the Charismatic Enigma shocked the world on Monday night by showing up on the "other show", the wrestling world now knows that TNA signed Jeff Hardy.

Emotional Responses
The response to Jeff Hardy showing up in TNA has been extremely high.
Some have been throwing emotional outbursts because they don't want to see a big WWE star showing up in a rival promotion. Others have been rejoicing because their favorite wrestler is now back on television again.

The emotional responses are a sign of just how popular Jeff Hardy is. I'm pretty sure wrestling fans aren't tearing up the message boards with discussion threads on Val Venis and Orlando Jordan "betraying" the WWE Universe.

Jeff Hardy caught everyone, including those that are backstage in WWE, off guard with his decision to join TNA. Matt Hardy and Gregory Helms might have been the only two that truly knew what was going down.

Legal Issues
Within 24 hours of showing up on TNA iMPACT!, Jeff Hardy was invited by a jury in North Carolina on his drug charges. That means that his trial will head to superior court.

What that means is that Jeff Hardy's legal issues are going to continue for the next few months.

This is not something that caught TNA by surprise. The company was well aware of the legal issues that he was involved with it. They did their research prior to signing him to the company, hoping that the rewards are greater than the risks.

As long as the legal issues aren't too much of a distraction for Jeff Hardy, then it's not a big issue with TNA. At the same time, working in TNA might provide Jeff Hardy with the distraction that he needs in order to get through these legal proceedings without losing his mind.

Straight Edge Society

CM Punk's ticket back to the main event could come in the form of the Straight Edge Society.

Straight Edge Society
No alcohol. No cigarettes. No recreational drug use. No risky sexual behavior. Those rules are the basic guidelines to being straight edge.

The straight edge lifestyle is one that CM Punk chose to live by years ago. He grew up watching what these vices did to his father and some of his friends. He didn't want his life going down the same path.

When CM Punk became a professional wrestler, he decided to incorporate his real life personality into his on screen character. He would tweak up his personality just a little bit based on whether he was a heel or a babyface.

The straight edge gimmick was good enough to where WWE allowed CM Punk to keep using it after he signed a contract with them. Generally, the company likes to develop their own characters and gimmicks.

With some renewed momentum and a loyal follower in Luke Gallows, CM Punk could very well ride the straight edge gimmick back into the main event scene.

Straight to the Top
Unless you're in denial, it's plain as day that CM Punk has been dropped severely from the top of the main event scene. His feud with R Truth is a telling sign that management wants to drop him down to the midcard level.

It's a well known fact that CM Punk isn't the most popular guy backstage. However, if the Straight Edge Society stable takes off, the company might not have a choice but to push him.

There's history there. CM Punk forced management to push him by connecting with the audience. Officials saw the reaction he was getting from the audience and ignored his backstage reputation.

Potential Members
Another thing that this stable presents is an opportunity for some of the lower level guys to get some shine.

Festus, now known as Luke Gallows, wasn't on television for quite a period of time there. Now that he's with CM Punk, he's getting television exposure every single week on Smackdown.

Management rarely uses Jesse (Luke Gallows' former tag team partner). He has a character that isn't getting over. Might as well convert him into a member of the Straight Edge Society as well. An underrated talker, Jesse can reform his tag team again.

WWE tried to prevent Charlie Haas from leaving to TNA by giving him a raise. They don't know what to do with his character. Putting him into the Straight Edge Society could work out well. He's a gifted in-ring performer that just needs an identity.

Another interesting idea is to turn Cryme Tyme into heels by "cleaning" them up and making them go straight edge. That could spark some interest back in the team again.
The Straight Edge Society could also use wrestlers that are in the developmental league as well. That would give them an instant rub right out of the gate.

I agree about the tag team division. When ACTUAL Teams are tag champions? Then I will take that division seriously! I dont like guys being paired together just for the hell of it either. Charlie Haas? Mike Knox? WTF! Pair up Haas with Benjamin again. NEITHER! are doing anything worthwhile so why not?

Reunite the Colons! They should have never split up in the first place Hailey's Newsies - Issue 64 - January 8th 2010 Icon_rolleyes

Put them all on SD! Then we will have five teams (ACTUAL Teams)

Legacy
The Colons
Hart Dynasty
Cryme Tyme
Haas/Benjamin

That's five teams right there! Get your head out of your asses WWE and get to work! And when the time is right, reunite Edge and Christian.

^As much as I want to see an E/C reunion, Neither one really need the tag titles. They both should be on their own going for the WWE or WHC titles. They been there done that. I think the tag titles should be used for newer tag teams like Hart Dynasty, Legacy, The Colons, ect.

Maybe when E/C both get ready to retire then reunite them one last time.

Also I want Edge to get a proper and long WHC title run, hes had 9 of them and they were too short.

Good Issue Hailey. smile
