I normally dont write out reviews, or columns etc but i figured now was the time to do so, so here we go. My first column will be about Ring of Honor and how it can only continue to get better. Let's start with the heavyweight division and its current champion, Roderick Strong. He won the title from Tyler Black last weekend (only because Black is going to WWE) and it got me to thinking....why? Was it because of the rumors that were going around about TNA showing interest again in him? Surely they couldnt take 2 major hits and lose 2 of their top guys so they decided to throw the title on Strong i guess in convincing him to stay. I dont really remember if he signed a contract extension or what, but it obviously paid off in the long run for his ROH career. The thing that bugs me is, why waste an opportunity to put the title on Davey Richards? Everyone complained that it was a year too late to put the belt on Black and i fear the same is gonna happen to Richards. Everyone is gonna complain that they waited way too long to make him the top guy, and in a way i have to agree. I hope that Delirious as the booker now can continue the good roll that the current division has been in, and not book stupid ass decisions.
Now lets go to the tag team division and focus on the champions, the Kings of Wrestling. That Young Knock Out Kid and Claudio have been on a roll lately, facing teams like the Machine Guns and the World's Greatest Tag Team, but what bothers me is how some of their matches end in DQ. Either have them beat the team cleanly or by some kind of foul in a title match, or have them put over the team in a nontitle match, but not by fucking DQ, what does that prove exactly? That a team that isnt even under contract can come in and beat you without even scoring the pin? To me, it makes the tag champs look extremely weak. What happened to the Embassy? I thought Prince Nana's main goal was to take over ROH bit by bit and none of the members have been put in title matches. Why not have Smith and Stevens go after the belts while Necro goes after the TV belt? and what the hell happened to the Dark City Fight Club, after Rasche Brown left its like they fell off the face of the earth.
The midcard division is pretty solid and i dont have any complaints, although i wish they would give Eddie Edwards some better fucking challengers for the TV Title. Why not put Aries in that picture, or Daniels.
In the end, Ring of Honor currently is in the top 3 in this country behind WWE and TNA, and to most peoples dismay, it is considered by many as to be the best company going, mainly because it has 5 star matches night in and night out.
