WWE Raw house show report
January 15, 2012
Oakland, Calif.
Report by Erick Lainez, PWTorch reader

Up first was The Miz trash-talking the Bay Area and the 49ers, saying they'll lose in the Super Bowl. James Durbin from American Idol was in the house and Miz sang and was booed. He began trash-talking about R-Truth, who came out from the crowd into the ring and took Miz out. As he was about to keep beating him down, out came "Mr. Excitement" John Laurinaitis, who kicked R-Truth out of the ring because he was interrupting his show. John was booed so loudly, and he decided to "give the WWE Universe what they wanted" and made R-Truth vs. Miz right now.

(1) R-Truth beat The Miz in a good bout.

(2) "Ryback" Skip Sheffield beat Alex Riley in an okay bout. A lot of people didn't know who Skip was and weren't really into the match.

(3) "Funkasauras" Brodus Clay beat Tyler Reks. Clay had a nice crowd reaction, but the match was not all that great.

(4) Primo & Epico (w/Rosa Mendes) beat WWE tag champions Air Boom (Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston) to WIN the Tag Titles. It was a clean, fast-moving match and led to a big celebration from the new tag champs after a good win.

The Raw ring announcer announced matches for the Road to WrestleMania Smackdown house show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco next month: Sheamus vs. Christian in a Special Challenge match, Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett in a steel cage match, and Daniel Bryan vs. Big Show vs. Mark Henry in a triple match for the World Title.

Chris Jericho came out to a big crowd reaction. As he was about to do a promo, Jack Swagger interrupted. Swagger hit him with the mic, but was then trapped in the the Walls of Jericho.

[Intermission]

(5) Divas champion Beth Phoenix beat Eve Torres to retain the Divas Title. Eve had the match won, but the Bella Twins cost Eve the match.

(6) John Cena beat Kane via DQ. Kane hit Cena with a chair, then chokeslammed him. Kane returned to the ring after they announced Cena won the match by DQ, only to take the Attitude Adjustment

(7) WWE champion C.M. Punk beat Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Title.

-------------------------------------

The house show that I went to in Sacramento, CA was basically the same.

Differences were that Lauranitis was not there and the tag titles did not change hands.

The show was pretty good. The best match was probably the tag title match and the WWE title match although Dolph/Punk I think could do a lot better.

They did do some new spots. One was when Punk countered Dolph's Famasser and did a sit out powerbomb and the other was when Dolph countered Punk's GTS with a Famasser. Really sweet counter! The finish saw Otunga distract the ref so that Dolph could rest and nail Punk with two chair shots. Punk kicked out though and this made Otunga mad so he came in the ring to talk shit to the ref but got a GTS for his troubles! Dolph then hit the Zig Zag on Punk but Punk kicked out! Punk countered a corner splash move by Dolph [which had him hit the exposed turnbuckle he exposed earlier] and this allowed Punk to lock in the Anaconda Vice to retain his WWE Title by submission.

The Divas Title match was a let down. Idk why Beth kept stalling by holding onto the ropes so Eve 'could not' hit her.. She won with the Glam Slam after she likely would have lost had Brie Bella counted normally for Eve after she hit the moonsault on Beth.. It was pretty stupid but I lol'd at this random lady behind me cheering for Eve to "Kick her [Beth] in the nuts!" Other things I should mention was that Brodus did not squash Tyler Reks like I thought he would. Reks got some offense but eventually fell to Brodus in like 5 minutes. Oh and Naomi and especially Ariane were looking great. Ariane's red attire seems to have more white on the backside and it almost looks like she is wearing a red thong! Shocked They seem to be having fun so good for them. Raw House Show Results From Oakland, CA [About the Same as Sacramento, CA the Night Before]. 177715
