| Subject: June 14th, 2012 Live Impact Ratings Are in Fri 15 Jun 2012, 8:27 pm | |

TNA Impact live on Thursday, June 14 scored a 1.03 rating, which is essentially even with last week's 0.98 rating considering both round to a 1.0.
Impact averaged 1.34 million viewers, which was up six percent compared to last week's least-watched episode in nearly two hours. But, Impact remained ten percent below the yearly average prior to the live summer series.
-- In the key demographics, Impact was up slightly in males 18-34 compared to last week, but down slightly in males 18-49 to the lowest m18-49 rating in six weeks.
Impact was also down slightly in teen males to the lowest m12-17 rating of the year. One of the stated reasons for Impact moving up one hour was to attract a younger audience, but that has not materialized through three weeks.
Compared to this same week last year, Impact is down five-tenths of a rating (57.4 percent) in m12-17. In the other demos, Impact is down one-tenth to three-tenths of a rating.
-- On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #36 in overall viewers, #13 among males 18-34, and #11 among males 18-49. The demo rankings were within the normal range. TNA's new second hour at 9:00 p.m. EST was up against the first-half of the NBA Finals Game 2 on broadcast TV, which averaged 16.6 million viewers.
Caldwell's Analysis: TNA faces the NBA Finals one more time next Thursday, then no more excuses for why ratings continue to be flat-to-underperforming. Thursday's show - with a little polish - was the model going forward, so they need to stay the course on what they did last night and see if the audience they've lost this year will eventually find Impact again. Moving up an hour while being opposite the NBA Finals is doing them no favors, and it does not appear being live has made a difference through three weeks.

TNA Impact Live on Thursday, June 14 officially scored a 1.02 rating off a first hour 0.94 rating and second hour 1.11 rating. The new first hour was up 0.06 from last week and the new second hour was up 0.03 from last week.
Impact peaked at the top of the second hour (old first hour) with a 1.15 rating for the end of the Bound for Glory Series battle royal. As has been the case through three weeks in the new timeslot, Impact's low-point was the start of the show with a 0.88 rating in Q1.
First Hour Break Down
Q1: Impact opened with a 0.88 rating for the Ultimate X match, Austin Aries's post-match promo, and half of a commercial. (Q1 three-week progression in new timeslot - 0.72, 0.81, and 0.88)
Q2: Impact increased slightly to a 0.91 rating for Aries's and Hogan's in-ring exchange, a pre-tape with Bully Ray and Joseph Park, and one-and-a-half commercials. (Q2 three-week progression - 0.85, 0.85, 0.91)
Q3: Impact increased slightly to a 0.95 rating for Devon vs. Hernandez for the TV Title, A.J. Styles and Dixie Carter backstage, one commercial, and ring intros for the battle royal. (Q3 three-week progression - 0.81, 0.92, 0.95)
Q4: Impact increased slightly to a 1.00 flat rating for the first-half of the gauntlet battle royal, plus two full commercial breaks leading to the top of the second hour. (Q4 three-week progression - 0.75, 0.95, 1.00)
Caldwell's Analysis: The increases throughout the hour appear to be a product of the audience slowly finding the show in the new timeslot. It will take a few more weeks before the quarter-hour trends level out to find real increases and decreases.
Second Hour Break Down
Q5: Impact increased to a 1.15 rating for what would have been the first segment in TNA's old timeslot. The segment included the finish of the BFG Series battle royal, James Storm's return promo, and one commercial. (Q5 three-week progression - 0.97, 1.14, 1.15)
Q6: Impact declined slightly to a 1.11 rating for Miss Tessmacher vs. Madison Rayne, Brooke Hogan backstage with Gail Kim, one commercial, and Mr. Anderson's ring intro for the TNA World Title main event. (Q6 three-week progression - 0.99, 1.07, 1.11)
Q7: Impact declined to a second-hour-low 1.05 rating for the World Title ring intros, Roode-Anderson title match, and one commercial in what is typically TNA's throw-away segment of the show before the main event segment. (Q7 three-week progression - 1.03, 1.00, 1.05)
Q8: Impact increased back to a 1.11 rating from Q6 with Dixie Carter and Styles backstage, JB giving a formal ring intro for Sting, and Sting's promo before he was jumped by mystery men. (Q8 three-week progression - 1.01, 1.09, 1.11) | |
