WWE Super Smackdown on Tuesday, November 6 scored a dismal 1.52 rating on Election Night. This was down four-tenths of a rating from where Smackdown was the past month on Friday nights.
Smackdown averaged 2.20 million viewers. The audience was the lowest of the year for a first-run episode and nearly the lowest of 2012 for any airing. Only the July 6 replay of the previous Tuesday special had fewer viewers this year.
The following is a break down of viewership for the Tuesday night specials this year.
Feb. 21 - 2.33 million viewers Apr. 10 - 2.25 million viewers July 3 - 2.54 million viewers Nov. 6 - 2.20 million viewers
- On cable TV Tuesday night, Smackdown ranked #20 in overall viewers and #14 among males 18-34 and males 18-49.
The demographic ratings were down slightly compared to the most-recent Smackdown on Friday, November 2. The drop-off was small, except among younger viewers. Males 12-34 fell to the lowest point in one month and WWE took a major hit among teen males 12-17, declining 47 percent from Friday's show.
Caldwell's Analysis: Not good. Smackdown was finally re-building some momentum on Friday nights, and this special will likely hurt momentum for a few weeks until viewing habits are restored. The belief was that WWE could provide an alternative for adult viewers not wanting to watch Election coverage, but that did not appear to pan out. And, younger viewers did not find Smackdown on a different night of the week. Combining the U.K. TV shows typically not drawing in the U.S., too many hours of WWE TV during the week, and the Smackdown roster over-exposed on Raw, this show didn't have a chance. | |
