TNA Impact on Thursday, December 27 officially scored a 0.95 rating off a first hour 0.91 rating and second hour 0.99 rating.
The final Impact of 2012 reflected the pattern in the second-half of the year after Impact moved up one hour earlier on Spike TV - rounded 0.9 first hour rating in the new timeslot and rounded 1.0 second hour rating.
Impact peaked with a 1.01 rating at the top of the second hour. After Q6 dipped to a 0.93 rating, the final 30 minutes of the show scored 1.00 ratings.
First Hour Break Down
Q1: Impact opened with a 0.90 rating for Bully Ray and Brooke Hogan's awkward exchange, then Austin Aries challenging Bobby Roode on Open Fight Night. Included was one commercial.
Q2: Impact was essentially the same at a 0.89 rating for Samoa Joe vs. a masked member of Aces & Eights, one commercial, and ring intros for the Bro-Off.
Q3: Impact peaked in the first hour with a 0.95 rating for Robbie E., Jesse, and Rob Terry involved in a Bro-Off, one commercial, and the first few minutes of RVD vs. Christian York.
Q4: Impact returned to a 0.89 rating for the second-half of RVD vs. York, videos on A&E and Joseph Park, and two full commercial breaks.
Second Hour Break Down
Q5: Impact scored a 1.01 rating for Christopher Daniels and A.J. Styles mocking A.J. Styles, the first-half of Daniels & Kaz vs. Chavo Guerrero & Hernandez, and one mid-match commercial.
Q6: Impact dipped to a second-hour-low 0.93 rating for the finish of the tag match, videos, and Mr. Anderson's TV return in an A&E video package.
Q7: Impact returned to a 1.00 rating for the Knockouts match of Gail Kim vs. Miss Tessmacher, one commercial, and matches set up for next week's Impact.
Q8: Impact stayed the same at a 1.00 rating for Bobby Roode vs. Austin Aries in a heel vs. heel main event, plus one mid-match commercial.
Caldwell's Analysis: TNA (and WWE) has watered down the value of star vs. star match-ups that Roode vs. Aries had no chance to move the needle. This was a 2012 PPV main event that TNA reduced down to just another TV main event with no finish. | |
