WWE Smackdown on Friday, February 8 scored a big 2.16 rating, up six percent from a 2.03 rating last week.
Smackdown averaged 3.19 million viewers, up seven percent from last week's show.
Smackdown's overall rating was slightly below a 2.20 rating for Rock's return on January 11, but Smackdown's viewership was slightly above the Jan. 11 show.
Smackdown viewership was the highest for a first-run Friday episode on Syfy in exactly one year - the Feb. 10, 2012 episode averaged 3.26 million viewers.
Meanwhile, The Rock's 2007 movie, "Game Plan," drew 4.22 million viewers head-to-head on Disney Channel.
On cable TV Friday night, Smackdown ranked #3 in overall viewers, #6 in males 18-34, #3 in males 18-49, and #4 among males 12-34. This was the show's best teen male rating since December.
Caldwell's Analysis: Very strong performance. There was a formula in-play for this show, and WWE won out. The formula was Northeast viewers snowed in, which put them in front of the TV sets, minus Northeast viewers who lost power and were unable to watch Smackdown. It turns out the scales tipped drastically toward snowed-in fans watching Smackdown. This has to be the key factor because WWE did not advertise anything in-advance for Smackdown and The Rock was not part of the show. Rock helped raise the Smackdown Boat just by being part of WWE again, but not by this much.
