Rob Van Dam Possibly Leaving TNA Wrestling? RVD Responds 3-15-13

Rob Van Dam’s TNA contract is expiring very shortly, possibly this week. If not this week, then at some point next week. He didn't appear at the Lockdown pay-per-view and there are rumors he may not re-sign with the company.

When asked by a fan on Twitter if he was looking forward to being in Chicago, IL for Thursday's live iMPACT!, he replied with the following “Ill be in Cali. More on that in a few days.”

As previously reported, Rob Van Dam is not booked for tonight's TNA iMPACT! tapings in Chicago. The reason for that is because his contract expired over the weekend.

While both sides are currently talking about a new deal, at this time, RVD is a free agent.

Recent TNA X Division champion Rob Van Dam, who joined TNA in March 2010, issued the following statement on his TNA contract status on Thursday night.

"I have been reading a lot of tweets concerning my contract with TNA as of late," RVD said. "Questions such as, 'Is it true your contract is up?' 'Has your contract expired?' 'Are you re-signing with TNA?' 'Are you joining WWE?' 'What's the deal?' I appreciate all of the questions and I'm happy to address it...just not right now."

"I plead the Fifth due to the grounds that it may be detrimental to my ongoing business affairs. Thank you for understanding. And, very soon, we'll talk about just that."

I really don't want to see him in WWE.

I kinda want to see him in WWE again although he is far from how good he was last time he was here.

I'd love to see him back in the WWE.

Hopefully it would be as a face, though. I'm not a big fan of his whenever he's a heel, and I know the WWE would probably want him to be one.

Yeah he works better as a face imo.

If he actually came back I would think an IC/US Title reign would be a given but if he's lucky he could add the WHT to his collection.

Although Rob Van Dam and TNA have yet to officially announce they have parted ways, RVD talked in the past-tense about this stage of his wrestling career in an interview with Shelly Martinez on Monday.

RVD commented on "life after TNA" during the interview with Shelly on VOCNation.com: "First off, I'm looking forward to seeing you at WrestleCon. Up here at the office in Hollywood, one of the projects I'm spending a lot of time on is the lifestyle brand...It's getting ready to blow up."

The new project is a clothing line that features Shelly and TNA Knockouts modeling his "non-conformity" brand of t-shirts and sweatshirts.

The recent X Division champion also released a new audio blog denying that he said during his previous audio blog that he's a free agent and just sitting at home without a contract.

Also during the interview Shelly, RVD made it sound like TNA would be his preferred option if given a choice whether to continue with TNA or re-join WWE in the future.

"I've been wrestling over 23 years and I just started feeling like I deserve to have respect over the last few years. TNA gave me first class treatment, and that was a big change from WWE," RVD said.
