American Music Awards 2013: Taylor Swift Wins Artist Of The Year + 3 Others

Taylor Swift was the big winner at the American Music Awards, winning Artist of the Year for the third time, following victories in 2009 and 2011. She also won Pop/Rock Female Artist, Country Female Artist, and Country Album ("Red").

Justin Timberlake was also a multiple-winner, taking three of his five nominations: Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B Male Artist, and Soul/R&B Album ("The 20/20 Experience").

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis led all artists with six nominations, which paid off with wins for Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Album ("The Heist").

Rihanna was given the inaugural Icon Award for her influential body of work, but that wasn't the only prize she took home. She also won Soul/R&B Female for the fourth time.

One Direction were surprise winners for Favorite Pop/Rock Album ("Take Me Home"), beating Swift and Timberlake. They also won Pop/Rock Duo or Group.

Another young artist pulled off a surprise victory: Ariana Grande, who beat favorites Macklemore and Lewis for the New Artist of the Year prize.

Florida Georgia Line upset to win Single of the Year for their crossover hit "Cruise," featuring Nelly, but they were defeated for Country Duo or Group by Lady Antebellum, who won for the fourth time in a row.

Avicii also pulled off an unexpected victory. The Swedish DJ won Electronic Dance Music Artist against frontrunners Daft Punk.

Luke Bryan won his second consecutive AMA for Favorite Country Male Artist, beating recent CMAs champ Blake Shelton.

Imagine Dragons didn't win Pop/Rock Duo or Group, but they did take Alternative Rock Artist.

Marc Anthony was awarded Favorite Latin Artist, his second victory in the category following a win in 2004.

Maroon 5 won Adult Contemporary Artist. They Adam Levine-fronted band won Pop/Rock Duo or Group last year.

Matthew West won Contemporary Inspirational Artist, while "Pitch Perfect" was awarded Favorite Soundtrack.

I did like some of the performances.

I didn't catch the show (watching Survivor Series/The Walking Dead/Total Divas) but congrats to Taylor Swift for winning her 3rd Artist of the Year.

I actually like a couple of her singles off of Red so I didn't mind her winning.

I was sorta sad that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis failed to win any of the top awards although they won a couple which is better than most. :-/

She does have some good songs on there. I thought Thrift shop should have won the single of the year.
