10/5/1996—highlights from ECW Ultimate Jeopardy -The Gangstas fight Blue Meanie and Stevie Richards to a no-contest. The Gangstas retain the World Tag Team Championship. -The Gangstas then defeat The Eliminators, to retain the Tag Team Championship. -Shane Douglas fights Pitbull #2, to a no-contest. Douglas retains the Television Championship. -Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman defeat Steven Richards and Brian Lee. Due to a pre-match stipulation, The Sandman was awarded the World Heavyweight Championship. Raven was the previous champion, but had the title stripped, because he failed to show up for this event.
10/5/1997—WWF Badd Blood: In Your House highlights -The Godwinns defeat The Headbangers, to win the WWF Tag Team Championship. -Owen Hart defeats Farooq, to win the vacant WWF Intercontinental Championship. -Shawn Michaels defeats The Undertaker, to become number one contender for the WWF Championship. This was the inaugural Hell in a Cell match. This also marked the debut of Kane in the WWF, as he interfered in this match, and ended up costing Undertaker the victory.
This was also the day Brian Pillman was found dead in his motel room., in Minneapolis. Pillman was only 35 years old, and had died from a form of heart disease.
10/5/1998—D’Lo Brown defeats X-Pac, to win the WWF European Championship.
10/5/1999—WWF head writers Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara leave the company, and are hired as writers for WCW programming.
