TNA Impact on Thursday, August 30 scored a 1.07 rating, down from a 1.15 rating last week. Impact returned to nearly the same rating of a 1.06 from two weeks ago.
Impact averaged 1.42 million viewers, down 300,000 viewers (21 percent) from last week's summer peak of 1.72 million viewers. Impact was slightly below 1.46 million viewers two weeks ago.
On cable TV Thursday night, Impact ranked #41 in overall viewers, #10 among males 18-34, and #14 among males 18-49, which are around the yearly average.
Impact lost nearly all of last week's gains in key demographics when the show hit its summer peak. This week's show scored nearly identical ratings compared to two weeks ago in males 12-34, males 18-49, and adults 18-49.
The bright spot was males 18-34 holding some of last week's gain. The low point was males 12-17, which was down two-tenths of a rating compared to last week to the lowest point since June 14.
Impact was up against the final day of NFL pre-season football, the first day of college football on ESPN, which averaged 4.13 million viewers, and the widely-covered Republican National Convention. Fox News's coverage averaged more than 9.0 million viewers, but peaked after Impact went off the air for Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's speech in the 10:00 p.m. EST hour.

TNA Impact last Thursday, August 30 officially scored a 1.07 rating off a first hour 1.07 and second hour 1.07 rating.
After Impact drew their biggest audience of the summer on Aug. 23 for Hulk Hogan's return, TNA lost the gains on Thursday, most notably in the second hour.
- Aug. 30 Impact's 1.07 second hour rating was down two-tenths compared to a 1.27 second hour rating on Aug. 23.
- Aug. 30 Impact scored a 1.11 rating in Q5, as compared to a 1.32 rating in Q5 the week before.
- Aug. 30 Impact scored a 1.14 rating in Q8, as compared to a 1.40 rating in Q8 the week before.
One benefit from TNA drawing its largest audience of the summer on Aug. 23 was TNA being able to reinforce to the audience that Impact starts an hour earlier. This is reflected in the 1.07 first hour rating on Aug. 30 being the highest of the summer run, topping a 1.05 rating on Aug. 23.
First Hour Break Down
Q1: Impact opened with a 1.05 rating, which was not the lowest-rated or second-lowest-rated segment of the show for the first time in five weeks. The segment featured Austin Aries calling out Aces & Eights, Hulk Hogan and Sting joining him against the group, and one commercial.
Q2: Impact stayed the same with a 1.05 rating for James Storm vs. Rob Van Dam in a BFG Series match, plus one commercial.
Q3: Impact hit a first-hour-high 1.13 rating for a post-match Storm interview, one commercial, a Madison Rayne promo, a quick Rayne vs. ODB match, and Eric Young's return.
Q4: Impact then dipped back to a 1.06 rating for backstage segments, Gut Check pre-taped deliberations, video packages, and two commercials before the top of the hour.
Second Hour Break Down
Q5: Impact increased to a 1.11 rating for A.J. Styles vs. Samoa Joe, plus one commercial break.
Q6: Impact dipped to a show-low 1.01 rating for the Gut Check in-ring segment with Kris Lewie, Joseph Park backstage with Hogan & Sting, and one commercial.
Q7: Impact stayed tied with a show-low 1.01 rating for the first-half of Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy, plus one commercial.
Q8: Impact rebounded to a show-high 1.14 rating for the second-half of Angle vs. Hardy, the BFG Series Final Five intros, one commercial, and Aries calling out Aces & Eights, which led to another show-closing brawl to conclude the show. | |
