The top-drawing segments during TNA Impact last Thursday, July 11 were the Knockouts ladder match and Bound for Glory Series gauntlet match. The show-closing segment, which set up this week's TNA World TItle match and contained the Main Event Mafia's final member reveal, did not fare as well.
The following is a break down of Impact quarter-hours for the males 18-49 demographic, which captures the widest portion of TNA's key audience.
- Overall: Impact averaged a 0.63 overall rating in m18-49 off a first hour 0.58 rating and 0.67 second hour rating.
- Q1: Impact opened with a 0.61 rating for a verbal confrontation between Aces & Eights and Main Event Mafia, plus one commercial.
Peak viewership was 496,000 viewers at 9:09 p.m. at the conclusion of the segment, which was the second-most-watched minute of the first hour.
- Q2: Impact dipped to a 0.59 rating for the thrown-together tag match of Samoa Joe & A.J. Styles vs. Jeff Hardy & Joseph Park, one commercial, and a random drawing for the next BFG Series tag match.
The segment did include peak viewership of the first hour - 499,000 viewers at 9:28 p.m. for the random draw setting up the next tag match.
- Q3: Impact increased to a 0.64 rating for Magnus & Mr. Anderson beating Hernandez & Jay Bradley, one commercial, and the random draw for Christopher Daniels & Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode & Kazarian.
- Q4: Impact declined to a show-low 0.49 rating for the Daniels/Aries vs. Roode/Kaz tag match. Included were two full commercial breaks, but the match did not fare much better than the commercials.
The peak viewership was 428,000 viewers at 9:45 p.m. prior to a mid-match commercial. Back from break, the match only got to 369,000 viewers at 9:53 p.m. During this segment, TNA lost viewers to a telenovela on Telemundo (Marido En Alquiler) and the BET Awards Show.
- Q5: Impact got a top-of-the-hour bump to a 0.66 rating for Bully Ray addressing Aces & Eights, ring introductions for the Knockouts ladder match, the first four minutes of the ladder match, and one mid-match commercial.
Included was peak viewership of 486,000 viewers at 10:03 p.m. for ladder match ring intros.
- Q6: Gail vs. Taryn produced a noticeable bump for the conclusion of the match. In the segment, Impact scored a 0.70 rating, which included the finish of the ladder match, one commercial, and the start of the BFG Series gauntlet match.
Included was peak viewership of the show - 553,000 viewers at 10:19 p.m. for the conclusion of the Knockouts ladder match. Also of note was the match averaged more than 500,000 viewers for five consecutive minutes at the end of the match.
When Impact cut to break after the match, TNA lost 28 percent of their audience to a telenovela (Senor De Los Cielos), a movie on Syfy, a movie on Comedy Central, and "Hollywood Game Night."
- Q7: Impact increased to a show-high 0.72 rating for the BFG Series gauntlet match, which included one mid-match commercial. (TNA steadily regained the lost audience from Q6 and added new viewers throughout the quarter-hour.)
The gauntlet match peaked with 508,000 viewers at 10:31 p.m. prior to the mid-match commercial. Impact then returned from break with about 400,000 viewers, built to 506,000 viewers at 10:40 p.m. when top stars were featured, and finished with 454,000 viewers at 10:44 p.m. for the Roode-Magnus conclusion.
- Q8: Impact declined to a second-hour-low 0.60 rating for one commercial, then a 10-minute segment with Hulk Hogan getting Chris Sabin's "Decision," Bully Ray in the ring, and Sting revealing Rampage Jackson as the newest member of Main Event Mafia.
The issue is Impact peaked with 460,000 viewers at 10:45 p.m. just before the final commercial of the show. Impact then lost 49,000 viewers to ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" and 41,000 viewers to a Syfy movie.
Impact did not come close to the 10:45 mark for the remainder of the show, only reaching 414,000 viewers at 10:53 p.m., 424,000 viewers at 10:58 p.m. for the Mafia's appearance, and 421,000 viewers at 10:59 p.m. when Impact went off the air.
- OVERALL: The top TV channels that drew viewers away from Impact were Syfy (345,000 outflows during Impact), TBS (166,000), Telemundo (165,000), CMT (141,000), and A&E (137,000).
Reflecting significant channel-flipping during Impact, the top sources that added viewers to Impact were Syfy (347,000 inflows), Telemundo (219,000), TBS (199,000), CMT (164,000), and ESPN (162,000). | |
