WWE Smackdown on Friday, June 15 scored a 1.75 rating, essentially flat with a 1.73 rating the previous week.

Smackdown averaged 2.41 million viewers, down from 2.48 million viewers last week. It was the fewest viewers of the year for a first-run Friday episode.

Also significant is Friday's show continued a precipitous decline in viewership since Smackdown averaged 2.80 million viewers one month ago on May 18. Since then, the weekly drop-off from the previous episode has been 6.3 percent, 2.6 percent, 3.2 percent, and now 2.6 percent.

- In the key demographics, Smackdown was up and down compared to the previous week. Smackdown was slightly up in adults 18-34 and males 18-34. Smackdown was slightly down in adults 18-49, males 18-49, and males 12-34. Smackdown was down two-and-a-half-tenths of a rating in males 12-17 to the lowest first-run rating of the year.

On cable TV Friday night, Smackdown ranked #5 in overall viewers, #1 among males 18-34 & males 18-49, and #2 in its time period in younger male viewers, which was likely the result of Disney Channel premiering a new movie Friday night.

Caldwell's Analysis: This week's formula for poor Smackdown viewership - summer Raw feeling like Smackdown, which makes SD seem skippable Smackdown feeling like Raw, which makes SD seem skippable no advanced notice on John Cena appearing on Raw Sheamus not catching fire as World champ without a consistent opponent to work with build-up to the tight-rope walker over Niagara Falls against Smackdown's second hour Disney premiering a new movie attracting the younger demo U.S. Open coverage attracting the older demographic = Smackdown extending the Over the Limit to No Way Out drop-off in viewership.
