| Subject: 6-14-13 SD Ratings Plummet! Fewest Viewers Since SD Debuted On Syfy In 2010! Tue 18 Jun 2013, 7:06 am | |

WWE Smackdown on Friday, June 14 plummeted to a 1.66 rating, down 13 percent from last week's 1.91 rating.
It was easily the lowest rating of the year and lowest first-run Friday rating in nearly two years dating back to a 1.62 rating on July 1, 2011.
Smackdown averaged a measly 2.32 million viewers, down 13 percent from last week. It was the fewest viewers of the year and fewest since Smackdown debuted on Syfy in October 2010. (The July 1, 2011 episode averaged 2.33 million viewers.)
Despite the major drops, Smackdown ranked #2 on cable TV in overall viewers and #1 in key adult male demos. This is reflected by the males 18-49 rating flat compared to last week and the males 12-17 rating actually increasing.
The most significant drop was one-tenth of a rating in males 18-34 and more than one-tenth in adults 18-34.
Caldwell's Analysis: Stunning decline in ratings and viewership for an episode that had buzz based on the Tuesday TV taping. But, for the casual viewer, WWE advertised nothing in-advance on the Raw before Smackdown, making Smackdown seem like an afterthought. Add in a huge movie business for "Man of Steel," the official start of summer break, and WWE conditioning their audience to view the Smackdown before a PPV as a skippable show, and viewers simply checked out of this week's show. | |
